I get your argument here, but if it's gonna constantly be a tug of war of what automakers can get away with and what they want to give. For example, Honda considers sunglasses holders a luxury and keeps them out of lower trims (for some godforsaken reason), yet everyone gets a fancy infotainment system with car play. Tell an automaker "less is more" and we'll be running around like the Flintstones eventually. Might even take the wing off the CTR and add it to a performance package
Yeah I complained in my JD Power survey about the lack of sunglasses comparment / holder and about the lack of interior storage in general. The DOORS have more storage space than the front / dash console, center "Devil Horns" console, and glove box combined. WTF is up with those Devil Horns, anyway?
Neither the center console nor the glove box can be locked with a physical key. That is blatant Anti-Security.

As for the wing, I would have gone for the HPD spoiler on my Type R if it had been an option.
Once again, that "OEM Minus and Chill" look.

Drove wingless for a week while my custom risers were being made. Here’s how it looked (with my wing mounts still on).
Man that thing looks good in black. Makes me pause on my red order :p

It actually looks great from the back, as the stance and flares are sporty on their own.

You've changed so many things on your car, so many times, and every combination has looked awesome. What kind of exhaust is that?

Surprisingly I haven’t changed the exhaust yet lol. It’s the AWE Track Edition Exhaust :D .

I think the rear wing delete looks awesome and gives the CTR a subtler more muscular look.

As mine was nicked recently (retrieved as I had a tracker and currently being fixed up before I get it back), I’m interested in a less noticeable silhouette.

Sadly Boost blue will always demand attention but the removal of the wing might be what I’m looking for. I’ve seen a carbon duck tail which looks nice but not too bling.

Needless to say that there are lots of reasons why someone would want to modify their CTR to be more understated and I’m all for it.

I agree, the spoiler was one of the design points that stood out as a love/hate. Whether its the shape and design, color or lack thereof, or simply having a spoiler of not... It is neat to see so many different takes on this and each lies on personal preference. To have some actual numbers/data on the removal of the spoiler would be super interesting as far as functionality goes, I totally respect the idea of changing it up or removing altogether for the crowd that DDs their car or is more into the showoff side of things. I remember this same debate way back, with the ITR and the looks of a non-spoliered DC2-R

I like the no wing look, and honestly unless you're on a very fast track it won't really come in to play as a usable item. But I think you need some supporting mods to really finish the look, mainly lowering, spacers or different offset wheels, maybe a lip? The black car in this post looks great but has all of those things. Not sure how it would look on a stock car.

The no wing look is nice, but the wing is such a staple in the FL5 design that I feel it takes more from the car than it gives back

Yep, @ItsMeNickG 's car looks good no matter what he does to it. Wing delete doesn't look nearly as cool on a stock FL5.

Without the wing I think the car becomes unbalanced with a lot of the focus lower down on the car. That is one reason I didn't like the treatment on the DE5, it looks like wedge shape vs a a nicer flowing design of the FL5. I prefer the wing

Agreed, taking a big step like a wing delete needs other things to round out the look.

True. It definitely grabs that attention from non car guys/gals, I've noticed. Even ones in the know have asked "Is that a Type R? Thought so, when I saw the wing..."

Yep, Hell of a car right there!

Agreed, personally I felt the DE5 had too many 'I'm not sure about that...' points/areas that turned me away from it when buying. FL5 just has it going on, and looks like it shared DNA with the ITR when I put the pair together.

Has no one in the aftermarket invented a smaller (less in your face) wing, that mounts from the factory mounts ?
Surely there's a market for this... 🙋‍♂️

There's a reason why in the Porsche GT3 world, the touring model (wingless) holds value better than the regular (winged) version of the GT3.

Someone should just 3D print the current base plate and make it more flush with the trunk.

Not entirely true... GT3 Touring holds value better because they are rarer by a good margin (1:10 or more)...

I'd advise against high speed cornering without a rear wing, since it provides aero downforce.

I made the mistake of adding an air dam to another car without adding a rear spoiler. High speed handling at the limit became unexpectedly exciting.
