I would love a wing delete option and also hate the rear wiper!
Yes! This! I told my dealer the same thing.
Why the Hell does a Civic Hatch need a rear wiper? All it does is add weight, add aero drag, add unecessary electronics and breakable moving parts, and add a big ole lump right in the bottom center of your rear visibility.

@Honda , DubTeeEff, bruh?

This should not even be an option on a Type R, much less OEM.

Time for someone to make a Gen 11 Civic Hatch Rear Wiper and Washer Delete Kit .

So... Turns out there ARE Civic Hatch Rear Wiper Delete Kits.

PRL, Kill All Wipers, and a couple other brands actually make them, if anyone here is interested.

I certainly am.

I’m pretty sure it’s there primarily for snow/ice removal…hence the rear window defrosters too. Otherwise…yeah…it’s not all that useful. Rain water runs right off.

Well, I think that yes, you're right. The combination of all those components "can" be considered highly desirable for snowy and icy weather. I would still argue that the washer / wiper combo should be optional.

The defogger / defroster, however, I would argue is a safety requirement for all global regions. Fog can happen at almost any temperature, and in my opinion, front and rear defog / defrost should be mandatory OEM equipment on pretty much all closed cabin vehicles.
As long as you have the engine running and the defroster heating, you can break out that scraper and scrape off ice and snow.

@Sporky McGeuschky I imagine the rear wiper is primarily a safety requirement for vehicles with lift-backs moreso than anything. It’s like how, at least at one time, headlight washers/wipers were a requirement in some EU countries. Thankfully removing the rear wiper is easy on these cars.

It's come in handy a ton when it snows near me. Thinking back to my old Camry sedan, not having the wiper was a hassle at stop lights when the snow would pile up during storms.

Yep! Exactly. It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it…even if it’s only used a few times a year.

I guess we're just gonna have to agree to disagree on this one.

...Also, the EU used to require headlamp wipers? Really?
I hope the citizens got ahold of the people responsible for that and, well, held them responsible.

Welcome to designing a car that works in all environments. My wife drives a 25 civic hybrid and in the winter the wiper is crucial. As I'm also driving the CTR in the winter on occasion no doubt it will come in handy.

Not everyone lives in warm climates where it never rains.

Edit: Honda can't know where each car in their production line is going to go, and were not in the 90s anymore where you have 100 options when you build a car. Outside of a small % of enthusiasts there is nobody calling for wipers not to be included on cars, so why would the ever even make it an option?

Yeah. I mean…it’s a rear window wiper. Lol! If you don’t want it, just remove it. It’s super easy to do with a screwdriver and a set of plastic pry tools.?

Yeah they did…at least certain countries did. It’s interesting the kinds of safety requirements that different countries come up with…then, of course, there’s the whole liability thing that manufacturers have to try and account for as well. So we consumers as stuck with a mixed bag of safety stuff tacked onto all our cars. But yeah, that’s why old Mercedes and others have headlight wipers, including on some models exported to the US. In the US it was simply seen as a “fancy Euro luxury car thing” despite it actually being a safety requirement across the pond.?

I don't think they were ever a requirement. They came on a lot of the higher end cars as a feature, and made it into some less expensive cars also, but the were never a requirement anywhere.

My point here is that "Less is More".

It's disappointing to see a real regression in the US auto Options and Accessories market.

Where we used to have to "Opt In" to spend extra to add extra functional options and accessories - don't get me wrong, this is still very much a thing - we no longer have the option to "Opt Out" of what many of us see as BS fluff extra moving parts and unnecessary wiring, hoses, controls, and HOLES IN GLASS.
This no doubt raises the production cost and at the end of the day, the sticker price.

All in the name of "Safety".

Don't mean to sound like I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I guess I'm old school. Most of this new mandatory electronic "safety" equipment is exactly the opposite of safe.
All this extra shit in my face, like Lane Keep Assist and Seatbelt Reminder(???), and the absolute worst and most dangerous trend in the auto industry, TOUCH SCREENS IN MOVING VEHICLES, is just a distraction, which works to keep my eyes OFF the road, and therefore LESS safe.

All I wanted was a simple stereo with a tape deck, OK... joking.
A simple stereo with a MiniDisc player, to keep it modern.

Edit: Just looked at the title of this thread.
Apologies for taking it way off topic.
Wrong side of bed - confirmed.
Will now go crawl back into my corner of the internet.

Drove wingless for a week while my custom risers were being made. Here’s how it looked (with my wing mounts still on).

Looks much better than I thought it would, still not as good as it is with the wind though

I get your argument here, but if it's gonna constantly be a tug of war of what automakers can get away with and what they want to give. For example, Honda considers sunglasses holders a luxury and keeps them out of lower trims (for some godforsaken reason), yet everyone gets a fancy infotainment system with car play. Tell an automaker "less is more" and we'll be running around like the Flintstones eventually. Might even take the wing off the CTR and add it to a performance package
