folks on reddit are going to die from this info. I've been downvoted hundreds of times for saying there will be a 2026 model. For some odd reason they have been rooting for the discontinuation of the FL5
I’ve been ridiculed for years on here and elsewhere by a bunch of clowns because I kept saying there would be another year of the FL5 Type R. Back in 2023 people swore there wouldn’t be a 2024. Then they doubled down and said no 2025 either. And every time, they were wrong.

The truth is a lot of people just want to feel good about their own purchase. They hype up the idea that they got the “last” model year so they can feel special. It’s nothing but ego.

Meanwhile there was zero evidence that FL5 production was ending. None. The whole argument was hearsay and wishful thinking. First it was Europe’s emissions nonsense (as if that means the rest of the world automatically loses too). Wrong. Plenty of cars have been killed off in Europe but kept alive elsewhere. Then came the Japan noise regulation excuse… more blah blah blah.

I’ve said all along these doomsayers were out of touch with reality. Shame on them. ICE sports cars aren’t vanishing overnight. Non-hybrid performance models will keep coming for at least the next 5 to 10 years because the ridiculous EV mandates are being walked back. Toyota is literally developing a new high strung 4-banger right now and will be building sporty ICE engines through at least 2030.

Looking at how things are trending, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 2027 FL5 Type R, maybe as an LE or something similar.

Feels damn good to say “told you so.”

Brotha, it’s not that serious. Don’t let internet trolls affect your health. Most of us are glad they are making more Type R’s!

Possibly the same folks that paid $20k+ ADM to be amongst the early adopters

Most of us are glad they are making more Type R’s!
More CTRs means more aftermarket support, and broader and longer OEM part availability. In the long run it's a good thing for all owners :)

for 2023-2025 VIN format:

J = Japan
HM = Honda Motor passenger vehicle
FL5 = Civic Type R 2.0L K20C1
G = 5dr hatchback 6MT (not Mexico assembly plant)
4 = type R high-grade trim with full airbag suite
x= check digit
P/R/S = Model year 23, 24, 25 (no I, O ro Q, to avoid confusion with digits zero, and one)
X = Honda Yorii Automobile Plant
nnnnnn =serial number

a 2026 FL5 made in Yorii would be
JHMFL5G4xTXnnnnnn

FL5G4TGW does not make sense as a VIN snippet:

FL5G4 = FL5 5dr hatch 6MT, type R high-grade

but the TGW does not make sense...

T = check digit? should be a valid check digit, not a letter

G = 2016 model year???

W = Honda's Gebze plant in Turkey? but then the VIN would start with TRA, not JHM

another possible interpretation for FL5G4TGW:

FL5G4 = FL5 5dr hatch 6MT, type R high-grade

assume that the check digit omitted then T would indeed be model year code

T= 2026

but then GW does not make sense:

G= not a recognized assembly plant code

W = also not a recognized assembly plant and cannot be the first position of the serial number (because it is not a number...)

so this might not be a VIN code, but rather an internal Honda model code?

yet for 2023-2025 the internal model codes were only six characters:
FL5G4P / FL5G4R / FL5G4S

there was no two additional characters that would map to the GW in the code above

maybe GW is "ultimate edition" variant? or maybe a plant shift from Japan (but neither G nor W is one of the recognized one character plant codes)

Just FYI, I went through some of my old texts and found pics other dealers sent me of 2025 models in their system that were incoming.

The model ID for 2025 in Honda's system is FL5G4SGW

So that further confirms the pic shared for 2026 is legit.

Right! This feeling of vindication brought on by a screenshot is...interesting. Who cares what randos on the Internet think of you? They don't know you, and you don't know them.

This is honestly a relief for me. I didn't want to have to fork out the dough and buy a potentially marked-up '25 because it was the last year. Hoping I'm in better financial shape next year to buy a '26. I hate the idea of making payments on what ultimately will be an "optional" car purchase.

I also felt that buying an Integra would be a cope buy because it really just didn't feel that special to me from an interior perspective. So overall, I'm very relieved at this news! Hoping for confirmation in the next few weeks from an official source. Exciting stuff!

Also, not sure how many of you have been checking, but 20 white Type Rs have been sold in the last week or two while the overall count of cars "on site" has only dropped by five, so it looks like there's some replenishing going on. Will be interesting to see when the ship lands with what was it, like 700 Type Rs?

I got my FL5 on this past New Years Day and happy it was for MSRP. It took me all day ( Heavy storms ) and 8 hours to be saying no to their B.S. markup, for this price. I'm happy and hope everyone one gets their FL5 their looking for.
