It's all good. A lot of people believe you shouldn't pay over sticker. I generally agree with that sentiment as well; however, I will pay over sticker for a certain car. It all depends on the circumstances.I agree with the sentiment in that I only wanted an FL5 too. The difference here isn't necessarily what you want, but timeframe. The problem with the CTR is in the fact that it's a type R. Its got more polish and pedigree than other hot hatches and is a track car, it's incredibly hard to beat that with any other type of car (unless you go waaaaaay up in price) - hence it's highly in demand.
In no way is my view a jab at others, but rather than I don't like giving dealerships more than the car is worth. If I didn't get my car for anything less than MSRP I would've waited (probably would've made it worse). If we were talking about a normal car I'd be agreeing that getting the car sooner than later was incredibly important, but that's just not the case. The type R is 100% a car you get for fun that can also be dailyable. No reason to pay more than it's worth I think, but like I said I've been incredibly lucky and would've potentially paid over MSRP if push came to shove.
