I agree with the sentiment in that I only wanted an FL5 too. The difference here isn't necessarily what you want, but timeframe. The problem with the CTR is in the fact that it's a type R. Its got more polish and pedigree than other hot hatches and is a track car, it's incredibly hard to beat that with any other type of car (unless you go waaaaaay up in price) - hence it's highly in demand.

In no way is my view a jab at others, but rather than I don't like giving dealerships more than the car is worth. If I didn't get my car for anything less than MSRP I would've waited (probably would've made it worse). If we were talking about a normal car I'd be agreeing that getting the car sooner than later was incredibly important, but that's just not the case. The type R is 100% a car you get for fun that can also be dailyable. No reason to pay more than it's worth I think, but like I said I've been incredibly lucky and would've potentially paid over MSRP if push came to shove.
It's all good. A lot of people believe you shouldn't pay over sticker. I generally agree with that sentiment as well; however, I will pay over sticker for a certain car. It all depends on the circumstances.

Yes...visited a dealer this week that had an SGP I wanted. Arrived and was told it sold earlier that day for $9K over MSRP.
Was there a bidding war or something? That’s crazy!

Not at all. Saw it was available at the dealership, called and said I'd be by later that afternoon to take a look. 4hrs later I arrived and was told it sold earlier that day.

Still waiting for the "limited edition" to drop before the end. I know people are saying it may never come, but I'm sure Honda can squeeze it out for the last quarter...

Regardless, glad I picked up my MY25 , I did wait for more than a year for ADMs to cool across the board. Can't wait to drive it this weekend

Genuinely think the last few months was the best time to buy a type R. Prices are only gonna go up from here as the current run comes to an end (plus tariffs)

Looks like it's coming to an end, at least in Europe.

I think this is further justification for me to pick up mine a couple of weeks ago without too much of an ADM. Still hurts that I had to pay $2k over, but at least it's not $5k or $10k  I can imagine dealers will be wanting at least $20k over for this Ultimate Edition!

$49k OTD. Technically used with 500 miles on it. CW, came with trunk mat and all weather mats (don't care about the floor mats, but the trunk mat was a nice bonus).

that's pretty good - they even credited you for the lojack
Yes, but also I played the game and a little luck.

I first hit them up mid month saying MSRP. They were at LoJack and Dealer Fee over. I kept texting and calling every 4-5 days.

Finally, at the END OF THE MONTH they called me. I noticed they had 2 CW FL5s in-stock and a blue had just arrived that day. So they probably didn’t want 3 sitting on their showroom floor.

Being real: How do you charge someone ADM and say it’s a rare/hard to get car when you have 3 new ones in the showroom? Lol

$2k is pretty good in SoCal. I wouldn't feel bad about it.
