Just a general question. How long does it usually take from the day it arrived at the port to the dealership? My dealership from the port is about a 35 minute drive. Assuming less than a week for processing and other stuff?
Can be anywhere from 2-40 days from landing. Depends on how busy the port yard is, how busy truck and rail lines are. PM me the last 4 of the vin and I can tell you when it leaves port.

So production of MY25 FL5 is currently ranging from 8/2024-11/2025. That is a 15 month production run of the MY25 FL5. @roastduck correct me if I’m wrong please. Also, have you seen an extended production run like this of the CTR 2017-2024?
FK8 didn’t pass through the west coast ports so I don’t have the data for that for analysis. 23-24 FL5 did not run as long as 25.

My personal opinion - there is no 2026. The strongest indicator being that the annual VIN Requirement hasn't been registered with the NHTSA yet.

I'm aware of the dealer network screenshot floating around. While I don't work on that system specifically, I will say that I've seen system admins just copy and paste model setups from year to year pre-emptively without knowing (or caring) if the model is discontinued (ex: I saw 2010 Acura RSX as an selectable search option in the system, and we know those don't exist.)

Take it with a grain of salt. I can absolutely be wrong.

2026 FL5 has been registered with NHTSA since the 2026 base civic was registered.

JHMFL5G47TMH09000 is a valid VIN according to NHTSA and comes to a 2026 CTR. HOWEVER just because you can validate a vin- it doesn't mean the car exists.

Edit: there are plenty of non existent cars on NHTSA that you can look up. Model years that never got sold, options that don't technically exist, etc. Specifically this valid VIN implies being made in the Honda Mexico plant.

Even if it's being discontinued, the value of FL5 won't go up in value for at least 15 to 20 years if that!
CTR isn't going to ever go up on value. Not even the S2000 is up in "value". The CTR will retain value pretty well, but very few cars hold up to inflation.

Well there seemed to be quite a big demand for the fl5. Many people paid over msrp and if they stop producing it and people hold their units, the few that will sell may sell high.

VIN Decoding does not equal Registration. I'm looking for the official Honda registration letter. Here's an example of the 2026 Ridgeline registration.

I can replace the T in your vin with a V (2027) and get the 2027 decoding result. No 2027 models have been registered. You also have a M in the plant position which will decode to Mexico. Replace it with a B and you get Alabama. Yes, the vins will decode, but they are not valid. Vins with plant codes M / B will never start with a J.

The S2000 has followed a typical collector car valuation trend. It depreciated like a normal car for many years, and bottomed out about 9-10 years ago. Then values began creeping back up and really began climbing in the last 12 months or so. I don't think anybody really tracks collector cars against inflation. It's more about the trends. Some cars do better than others.

I don't think we have enough experience yet to see what the CTR does. It probably won't depreciate as bad as a normal Civic (which will only ever depreciate), in fact it may have a very soft/flat depreciation and gentle climb back up. My M2 Competition did that and is pretty much worth what I paid back in 2019.

Interestingly, my S2000 valuation just passed the MSRP of a new CTR. Not sure how to interpret that in terms of inflation or present value of money. In my mind, the S2000 is a much more special car and way more rewarding to drive despite the fact that the CTR is a far more capable sports car when you consider power, handling, and braking. I feel like the S2000 is more desirable from a collector standpoint. Time will tell how the CTR does.

To be honest, I hate keeping track of the valuations of my cars. I just want to drive and enjoy them - that's what a car is made for! It's not an investment, it's a depreciating asset that I enjoy. The minute that I think it's too valuable to enjoy, I will sell it. I owned a BMW Z4M coupe for over 15 years and enjoy the heck out of it. I sold it for what I paid for about 16 years ago (minus all the mods, maintenance, etc.) because I feel like I'm devaluing it each time I drive it and was scared it would get rear ended by all these crazy SoCal drivers. I was in fear that it would get totaled if it ever got into an accident because parts were impossible to find since there's only 1815 in existence in all of North America and probably much less today! I decided to pick up the CTR so I can finally enjoy a car again without the fear of "devaluing" it in the back of my mind! The CTR cost more (in my mind, not accounting for inflation) than my M Coupe, but somehow, I treat the CTR like a beater. I know I'm weird that way ;)
