They all get the same clearcoat, so paint color should not matter so much (other than black cars will show more issues and white cars will hide more issues).
I used iron remover (these cars get hammered with rail dust) and then a wash with a clay mitt. Wipe down with prep or IPA. That is all...
I do see some obvious movement evident based on the bolt scoring on the driver's side, but it doesn't look like enough to account for all of that gap. Still, it's worth adjusting back to where it was based on the the marks and see how close that gets you.
The ITS is fairly easy to buy below MSRP, at least that was the case when I bought my 2025 ITS in late 2024. Without much haggling they knocked about $3K off. Despite selling in much lower numbers than the CTR (which theoretically makes the ITS more exclusive) it lacks the "aura" that lets...
Are you sure the hinge brackets slipped on their mounts? There should be evidence (on the paint) before I'd even get near the bolts. Also, check the hinges side to side for symmetry to make sure they didn't bend (that would be a different fix).
I have some experience in lubrication (ad nauseam, with three M.E. degrees) and the most important thing I tell people is that fixed oil change intervals, especially in the old days when some people said every 3000 miles, were often just a very conservative guess and were almost always overkill...
I owned a Type-S for about 10 months and thought it sounded awful. Lots of unnatural droning, wheezing, and mooing noises, and it sounded like an appliance at times. I have no idea how much of that was coming from the engine and how much was synthetic or processed noise. But I did detect some...
I just looked back at his video and other than bass response, he said the ITS audio is much cleaner in the mid and high range than the CTR, which matches my experience as well. There is a lot more range/detail and dynamic separation with the ITS system, probably due to additional mid-range...
That is surprising to me -- I owned an ITS for about 10 months and thought the ELS stereo was one of the best OEM setups I'd experienced in many cars. The CTR stereo seems a lot flatter with less range to me, pretty "average" overall. I wonder if I can better tune the settings in the CTR.
I put a PDF template in that thread that can be printed out on paper, and you can trace out the vent openings on it (or directly the flaps) with a pencil to help cut out the openings if desired. I do think the vents matter for enhancing downforce on the side skirts (believe there was some info...
I really dislike this type of flap because of the flat/2D amateurish look and the cost. If anyone is looking for a better/cheaper option that looks a little more OEM, this is what I've done on all my recent sports cars...
If it's a canned magazine placeholder article or an AI result, it must be true...
I have to say, there's been an extreme lack of common sense and sanity checking with all of the 2026 info we've seen so far. I have not seen anything credible.
The S2000 has followed a typical collector car valuation trend. It depreciated like a normal car for many years, and bottomed out about 9-10 years ago. Then values began creeping back up and really began climbing in the last 12 months or so. I don't think anybody really tracks collector cars...
That's good, and good way to test it real quick. One of the issues that affects the S2000 is that the rod ball wears into the fork socket over time and develops a bit of a nub which hurts clutch feel/finesse. On mine the nub was about 1/16" high and 1/8" diameter. I put the rod in a drill and...
How often does the Civic service manual call for this? I've only ever run into issues on old or high mileage cars. Just fixed this problem on my 2005 S2000 in fact, so that took about 20 years to manifest itself. Sounded like a metal on metal groan/squeak, like damper or door hinges on an old...
Working on FWD cars is a pain in the ass for jobs like this, plus it’s a modern car with extra layers of crap to deal with. I hate to think what an engine-out job would entail.
So what did your dad think when the trans went haywire a few days after the clutch job? If he thinks like me, “there...
If it's a bad bearing you'll hear a high frequency whine, almost like a supercharger, and it will vary with RPM/speed. Noise from a bad trans bearing won't go away when it warms up after driving, normally it will get worse.
I don't consider it abnormal for a gearbox to make a cacophony of...
That doesn't make sense from a mechanical standpoint so I think some info got mixed up along the way. Are you able to keep the old transmission? It would be an interesting teardown/diagnosis and could probably be refurbed and make a nice spare, or you could sell it.
