Hello, I just did this mod on my 25 ctr, one question - the valve on the center exhaust is now open, are there valves that close and open on the two smaller exhausts on either side of the big middle exhaust? I dont see the valves on the two small exhausts.

I believe that only the center exhaust has the valve.

Just went to go do this free mod on my new-to-me FL5. Looks like the previous owner was on this forum. It's already been done. Now I'm wondering if it also has the DE5 ADS module, because I'm coming from an FK8, and this car definitely rides better than my old car.

The fuse pull is really a placebo. If there’s any effect to exhaust sound, it’s VERY minor. The hype got blown way out of proportion…and a lot of that was because we didn’t know how/when the valve worked in the early FL5 days.

Regarding the ADS, the only way to know for sure is to look at the ADS module. The FL5 does have a better ride quality than the FK8 out of the box (with the stock module). The ITS module makes it even more comfortable on the street. It’s a godsend if the roads are terrible where you live.

might not be easy to tell which is which by looking at the module:

https://dc5rparts.com/products/2024...fied-fits-2023-civic-type-r-fl5-39381-31m-a03

Acura is currently providing this ADS unit under their own part number designation (39381-31M-A03) with a OEM Honda box. ADS unit may still have Honda's part number (39380-31M-A03) engraved on the unit itself as displayed on the pictures. Keep in mind Acura and Honda are sharing this platform, hence Acura taking these units and loading their own tuning software to the ADS unit and assigning a different part number on the box only. Item will come sealed and boxed directly from Acura.

Lol. Yes, I am very aware the platform is shared.

Hmmm…I thought they had a different part number sticker or stamping on the modules. I could’ve sworn they do. Then again, I vaguely recall needing to be sure I didn’t accidentally reinstall my stock FL5 ADS when I did the swap last fall (because they look exactly the same). When I put my FL5 module away, I put a label on it to be sure I didn’t get it mixed up too. So that’s maybe another indication that there are no outward differences. I wouldn’t label it if I didn’t feel a need to do so.

Agree, on the fuse pull. It's completely placebo. It's difficult to tell the difference in exhaust tone or volume always open vs. OEM logic. If you want to change the tone and/or volume you will need to modify the exhaust. Unfortunately, there's no way around it.

When I purchased mine, only the outside box had the ITS number, if I recall correctly, the actual module did not, but it had other numbers that were different from the CTR module...

I like your idea of labeling. going out to the garage and label it... thanks!

So I put the fuse back in today. There is definitely a big difference in tone (maybe not noise, but tone) at low RPM from outside the car. From inside it sounds about the same. I will say that I also noticed that the car felt less prone to stalling when starting out in first gear with the valve closed. It now drives in those situations just like my FK8 did. Prior to replacing the fuse it seemed to bog more easily and require a bit more throttle to start off smoothly. I thought that was normal since I obtained the car with the fuse already removed.

I can definitely hear a difference at startup and putzing around. Driving wise, not much change except accelerating from a stop sounds a bit better.

I’ve always loved your channel, but this tip has given you celebrity status man. Keep doing what you do man !

it’s gotta be the easiest, most effective “mod” to fix something that should have come from
the factory. It literally will delay my exhaust purchase for a good year or two, if at all.

And a few photos just because this car is eye candy

Just found this on EBay hope is helpful for someone according to the description it can be used to the open valve instead of removing the fuse and also for the exhaust that requires to remove the OEM valve to not have the soft code on the ECU.
