What you guys are describing sounds almost like it could be a back pressure “thump.” Might be helpful to post a sound clip if you can.

Thinking about this more : The ITS doesn’t have the front resonator and the ECU is tuned to make more sounds (pops, bangs, burbles). I bet there’s back pressure “thumps” in the mix too, but they’re not obvious because those thumps are in concert with other nice exhaust sounds. In the FL5, with the resonator deleted, we only have a standing bass, but no other instruments in the orchestra (because the ECU hasn’t been programmed to add them).?

I’m not saying this is the answer, but it seems very logical.
I can hear these thumps on aftermarket exhaust videos when folks to cold/warm starts. Gotta pay real close attention but it's there.

I have a De5 and have heard this from day 1 of ownership . I cannot figure it out and have given up . Pretty sure it has to do with the exhaust , I thought something may be loose causing it as I have the same symptoms everyone is describing . It’s when I am off throttle. I am hoping it’s normal , I think . ?

side note : I also have a very faint squeak coming from the front right wheel area at low rpm or coasting . At first I thought maybe a rock stuck in rotor but from what I read it could be waste gate rattle .

Very interesting, considering the DE5 does not have the front resonator and the noise became apparent to me when I chopped off the front resonator on the FL5 bringing it in line with the DE5 exhaust set up.

Also yes, it’s the watergate rattle.

could possibly be that , I did try and post on the Integra forum regarding it but didn’t get anything from anyone else that matched the noise . I’ll be following, hopefully someone figures it out .

ty for the confirmation on the wastegate rattle , it’s a bit annoying. Maybe I’ll have to get an exhaust soon to drown it out . It’s faint but now that I hear it , I always hear it.

I've noticed something similar. I get a thump/burp sound from the exhaust and a not so smooth transition when coming back on throttle after engine braking.

I can replicate it 100% of the time.

It's waaay less noticeable when the mode is set to comfort vs. R. Not sure if that's because of the exhaust valve position or the throttle mapping.

If I recall correctly I feel like its done it since new, but more noticeable now that both resonators are chopped off.

Any ideas?

I think it has to do with some aspect of the factory ECU calibration. When my car was tuned, I stopped noticing it. When I had to flash back to stock, it came back. I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about.

Good to know, thanks

I was thinking of getting a tune precisely for that reason - since it seems the comfort engine setting with less aggressive throttle tip in reduces the problem a ton.

One of many benefits of tuning! Trust me, that will not be your favorite thing about a tune!
