Because they're all hoping to somehow have values shoot up because its limited edition, even though they're the same ones that will walk into a dealership and say "It's just a Civic!" as a markup negotiating tactic.
I walked in (dealership I had purchased my Accord from previously) and said to them ‘I don’t see a long line out the door wanting to purchase your Civic Type R’ and was told in response that so far only prospective buyers who couldn’t get financed. After two weeks of this rhetoric, they finally came down in price, so I went in and paid them in cash.

The people who didnt want a 2026 definitely paid a big mark up 🤣
What do you mean? The 2026 definitely won't be any cheaper, with all the tariffs tacked on. I can't see a reason why there won't be a bump in MSRP as there was in every single year. At the very least, you have a fighting chance in negotiating a 2025 with a lower MSRP.

I think this comment means folks who want the production to stop root for discontinuation of FL5 because these types of people paid mark up and can thus better justify having paid mark up due to the car being no longer available

That's really all it takes a bit of patience and focus on a car that's been at the dealership for a little while. Dealerships hate having a car sit for longer than a month unless it's one of the dealerships that only gets 1 or very few.

Funnily enough, 2025 (before tariffs were announced) was the cheapest in my experience. The hype has died down enough to actually get the car at MSRP (unless you live in california lol)

I'll go throw some fuel on the fire, but thats a different model code from the 2023-2025. FL5G4SGW is the 2023-2025 model code, FL5G4TGW for 2026.

Tell that to the Nissan dealers holding onto 2024 Nissan Zs like their gold - went in to peruse and they were marking it up by $6k 👀

I wish we had the same thing where a dealership has 2-3 Type Rs (I've seen some with multiples of the Integra Type S) so we can go below MSRP for once, but that's dreaming for me.

It seems that Honda has done a better job with more evenly distributing Type Rs vs the ITS, from what I've seen anyway

The S/T character in the VIN indicates model year. S is 2025, T is 2026. 2024 is R, 2023 is P.

This just means the last 8 of the VIN for the 2026 model is going to start with TX000xxx, 2025s have SX000xxx for the last 8 of their VIN

FL5G4 = 2 liter civic type R with K20C1 rated at 315hp
T = 2026
G = Made in Mexico.

This implies Honda is shifting manufacture to Mexico.
Interesting catch, that digit indicates the plant code, but the the first letter of the VIN designates the country of origin. As long as the VIN still starts JHMFL5, it's going to be made in Japan.

If they start making CTR's in mexico, good luck.
