No its a random number that's all
It's not a random number. The badge on the dash is global production. The US hasn't received many FL5 compared to the FK8 because the Integra Type S exists.

It doesn't make sense to put a random number on what supposedly be a serialized badge! It is random in the sense that the badge doesn't match up with the VIN, but that badge is serialized. So, if it's up to 50xxx, then they've made 50xxx FL5 worldwide!

They've made 50k of these cars, and a TON of people thought these were investments. Stock low mileage examples in 15yrs won't even be remotely rare.

The only value in the FL5 is to enjoy the hell out of it now.
Around 50K units total for the world, not for the US alone. The US get a less than half that number.

Probably around 15k- 20k when its all said and done. That's not a common car by any stretch and many will unfortunately not make it(get totaled)

This article from Australia has confirmed 2026 model for that market and it even reports a new blue color (which appears to be the same as Boost blue)while no longer getting a red option

https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-ne...IR2hn9doGEoS1qrhOZ_aem_jZPa8AezM20i0r4RIQsJog
From the Article:

"A highlight change with this 2025 production run is a new 'Racing Blue' exterior paint colour option. It replaces 'Rally Red' in the colour options. 'Championship White', 'Crystal Black' and 'Sonic Grey' continue to be offered and are all no-cost options."

There's no mention of the MY26 in the article. Also, this is old news, it was mentioned months ago that Australia was adding an additional colour. I want to say it was news back in the Spring or earlier.

EDIT: I mentioned the additional units for Australia in an article I read back on May 5th in this thread:

The article is clearly labeled as being reported on Aug 19 2025 and there is mention of MY26 in the title at the top of the page. You would have clearly seen it if you weren’t so busy selectively editing . All I did was post a new article to the thread.
From the top you chose to leave out:
$5000 price hike for popular hot hatch: 2026 Honda Civic Type R gains new colour option as another allocation of this Hyundai i30 N, Subaru WRX and Volkswagen Golf R rival drops in Australia

The big issue for us is the 15% tariff. Honda has to either sell these at a loss, raise prices or stop US sales.

Okay cool. I’m telling you the info is old and backed it up. Articling mentions MY25 production run.

2025 CTR. Championship White.
Having just ordered one, in Australia, 2 days ago. I can vouch for the article, inc the 5k price hike.
My information is the ordering process is (was?) open. Once closed, it will not be opened again, there will not be a 2026 build, at least not avail here.

So does this mean it even though it’s a 2026 model year, it’s considered a 2025 build?

Yes, if I understand your question properly.
The "MY" thing is quite US-Centric, and is not used as much in other markets.

The last Type R's that will be available in Australia, ever. Will be built this year (2025)
Some are in transit now. There will probably (hopefully) be additional shipments, but none will be coming / built in 2026.

So it's now or never, at least here.

Thanks for the clarification and congrats on securing your Type R.

Ordered one, signed one, deposited $5k, received receipt and config profile at 12pm Tuesday. I can confirmed this is true lol. My gut feeling was yup this is the last lot, it’s now or never, so I bit the bullet without hesitation.
