  1. 2026 Type R FL5 price rises to $46,895 ($48,090 after destination charge)

My dealership flat out refused to remove the wheel locks, though it wasn't $300. Since they were willing to deal on everything else it seemed to be policy, which is what they claimed.
  2. Winter Tire setup

Just got the same wheels (black and 8.5") installed on my car for the winter. Tires are 235/40 Goodyear Weatherready (with the snowflake symbol). The car is weirdly comfortable on these tires. :D 8.5 is a little too wide for 235s but the 8.0s weren't available from Tirerack, at least it...
  3. 2026 Type R FL5 price rises to $46,895 ($48,090 after destination charge)

That car has 700 miles and a lot of mods, doesn't count.
  4. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

I worked in Japan, they don't tell the peons anything. :D It also goes to my theory that the tariffs didn't pan out as people thought - Trump Taco'd or something, that made the FL5 remain viable.
  5. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

I suspect they aren't really paying a 15% tariff on FL5s, they probably have some deal worked out based on US content, or maybe based on Trump TACOing. Honda isn't likely paying $6k tariff on FL5s or they'd increase prices or cancel it.
  6. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

The tariff nonsense is my guess.
  7. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

Yeah, sounds about right, my own Carmax trade in value dropped from $46,500 to $41,600 in 3 months. Their asking prices have also dropped like $5k.
  8. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

I've sold them 3 cars, they're always the highest bidder. If you look at their prices, Type R prices have dropped a lot - I think they target about $5-6k markup, but since their selling prices are usually so high, you get good trade in values.
  9. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

Carmax trade-in for my 2025 with 1k miles is $41,600. It's dropped like a rock, probably cause Honda made so many 2025s, Carmax can't sell their overpriced Type Rs. In a way it's a good thing cause if it was $47k, my wife would want me to trade it. (it's her car since I go stuck with a company car).
  10. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

The car in the video looks like a disguised 11th gen sedan, which is also what people who drove it said.
  11. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

Read elsewhere from people who drove it that it's a Civic just with the next gen hybrid system (which is 200 lbs lighter).
  12. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

Saying everything is fine when it's obviously not is more political than what I said. I'm a Trump voter, so bringing up the tariffs as they directly affect the viability of a 2026 FL5 is very relevant and not at all political.
  13. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

Suppose a part, say a radiator, is made in the US. That manufacturer likely imported raw materials or even a mostly finished product to the US, and is paying a tariff on it. Now that Honda supplier is losing money on the part. How long until parts prices go up? They may have already increased...
  14. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

At a huge loss, remember. Even at 15% tariffs Honda isn't making any money on Type Rs.
  15. 2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

Yeah I remember them being somewhat unaffordable. I might have still bought it if I fit in it. I liked the way it drove better than the '97 GSR sedan I bought instead. But too little headroom thanks to the standard moonroof in the Prelude.
  16. Model Year 2025 Civic Type R FL5 Shipments from Japan

The engine is US made right, maybe other parts too? So not sure how much of the car gets the 15% tariff. Probably not $8k but probably at least like $4k. No choice anyway, they were probably already in production, or had all the parts ready for production. Hard to believe they'll make a 2026...
  17. Model Year 2025 Civic Type R FL5 Shipments from Japan

Thanks for that info! The Lyra Leader has a LOT of cars on it, wow. According to my VIN (late 5100s) my car was likely on the 7-15 boat at the latest, but it didn't arrive at the dealership til around Aug 6. Is that a normal transit time?
  18. Current FL5 Market

The GRC was also too cramped but rear seats and trunk. It was also hard to believe it's the same price as the Type R. Same here on the ITS, also I don't like the extra 5" length for no reason.
  19. Current FL5 Market

My Massachusetts car was delayed like almost a month, I and my salesman both think it was related to Trump lowering the Japan tariff. The car magically showed up a week or so after he did that. So maybe the East Coast is getting flooded with cars held back to get the lower tariff?
