If they added a hatch release I’d gladly trade up! Promise I’d use it responsibly!;)

Yes and it all depends on the location. You can purchase one for MSRP from a random state where 99% of people on the road don't even know what a Type-R is, but somewhere like Cali is a bit tough getting the car at MSRP so most end up paying at least $2000 over which to me isn't a big deal. The dealer wanted $5000 over for mine back in March of 2025, but we settled at $2500 over. The FL5 moves pretty quickly here in Cali when the ADM is under $5000.
Got my 2024 new also in Cali The Adm said see manager for price :) I got mine for 500 over sticker plus a few dealer add ons and I added the extended warranty. Out here by the coast The FL5 Type r is still like a Unicorn to those that know what it is. After I bought mine a week or two later they sold another one for 5000 over.
Going on two years now and I’m still getting thumbs up and many compliments.

Variable in DC metro area. Lots of dealers. One dealer last year (I have a 2025) would not move on a 5k adm ...as I walked out they lowered it but the dealer had been so rude to my wife that she (who hates car shopping and told me to be calm going in - said never ever with them). It came down to 4k. LOL. Horrible dealer.

Then, drove to the next dealer, on the drive over the phone asked what is your best deal - gave it to us at MSRP even though their sticker had an ADM. No bs. I said yes on the phone as we drove from dealer 1 to dealer 2. Been a happy camper ever since. Dealer lived up to his word. Other shoppers oggled the car being marked sold....no more sitting in it, etc. It was center in the showroom.

He said they got 1 per month and the new one was en route...

If you do fly and buy, don't forget to vary the rpm on your highway drive back -better for break in imho. You lose all leverage of walking out so if you fly to buy be darn sure the price stays the same as what you agreed upon. That would worry me.

The Civic Type R is worth every penny.

There’s always that option, but everyone’s pocket sit differently. Some don’t mind paying a little over MSRP and some do. The way I see it, I would still spend money on gas, food, etc just to get the car back and put a bunch of miles at the same time so I can feel better in my head that I paid MSRP. If I really wanted an MSRP deal, I would just have an enclosed trailer bring it back which again cost money so that’s why to me paying the small ADM was the best option because I was able to see the car in person and drive it back home in 15 minutes.

I agree you need to do the cost benefit analysis. It may be cheaper to pay the ADM/add ons. But also called the dealership made my deal told them not to detail not to touch the car or remove anything and send me a photo, video before I flew over to pick it up.

At the same time I understand paying a little bit over however for me it's also about the principle because we only encourage them to price gouge and unfortunately a lot of people are financially illiterate and will roll over 2 to 4,000 of the markup into their financing and don't understand how much that car ends up costing them in the long run.

But my thing is more so directed towards my Cali people that keep complaining about 7 to 15K markup. I'd still rather fly and emjoy my drive back across the coast.

I love my FL5, but with ADMs the price start to creep into other performance car territory. I always wanted a Type R so made sense and I am ok with the "stiff" ride and the seats. But its an enthusiasts car.

For me it's was between the new Z (due to shit sales and heavy discount) and used 2024 M2s. But I loved how the FL5 drove and worked for an "everyday car".

When I first drove my 11th gen Si, it wasn't fast but it reminded me of the Hondas of the '90s the feel and the drive which I loved. I was actually shocked as to how well and planted the fl5 is to drive and how fun. The M2 is fast and sounds nice, but to me it wasn't a fun driving experience like the older M cars. My only complaint is rattles (which can be fixed and has been too cold) and lack of exhaust noise. The 11th gen Si had way more pops and burbles from factory.

All that to say, the FL5 is a fantastic car. Just understand what you are buying.

No one's doing that anymore.
Not complaining anymore or not selling close to msrp? If your talking about selling used at close to msrp it really depends on the Year of the car, area, condition of the car and miles. And of course who’s selling it and the buyer :)

i got mine on 12/28/2025 from Riverside So Cal. Paid $2000 over MSRP. Maybe they are more desperate toward the very end of the year? Most other dealers $4000 over and wouldn't even budge. Riverside had only the blue and the red. I bought the blue, but the week after, the red was already gone, so they do sell quite fast in So Cal.
