That's my question, will the off the shelf Hondata tune work? If not, then you have to drop another $200+ on a custom tune.
I doubt it will work. It wasn't scaled to take into account the updated MAF of the COBB intake

it should be no problem to use the Cobb Intake on Hondata, you would just need the proper MAF Calibration.

I did the initial testing on this intake and quite a bit of changes are needed to the MAF curve compared to stock to run it. My car would barely run initially haha.

I'm waiting for an answer on this as well. If this is CARB legal, I'd move to this from my PRL.
Exactly.

For us Cali folks, an intake that is CARB legal is nice, but loses its benefits real quick if a tune is required and immediately voids the warranty.
More than likely, because it requires a tune, it may not get the CARB EO number.

So @Hondata_Support would need to get a hold of a Cobb intake and release a tune or custom tune. This is what I was looking for.

This is good news for the Cali folks.
For those looking for minimal power gains and staying legal, yes. When the intake becomes CARB legal the updated tune for the intake will also become CARB legal.

That’s why I’ll be going PWR when I upgrade the IC. It’s only 3lbs heavier than stock, cools extremely well, and doesn’t block nearly as much airflow to the radiator.
yes and no modifications need it that a no stress that a go to. Taking off bumper put intercooler on put bumper back nice and sound no drilling no etc extra bs my goodness

These are both great looking pieces. The intake will require tuning as noted.

The only flaw I see is that that this intake does not have a secondary air inlet point and will be choked on applications beyond 400whp as have all others that lack a secondary inlet point. Of course, not everyone is worried about exceeding 400whp so this will be a non issue to many.
I never like PRL intake design removing ecu that a no go to me too much of an effort mine as well put some more money in invest in something like this or eventuri called a day I like stuff that made to fit plug and play not need extra modifications extra work including extra stress but I guess ppl always said you pay for what you get you get what you paid for that is so truth in this category

If I'm honest I've never removed the ECU to install a PRL FL5/DE5 intake so I'm not sure why people that say that. My tip is to loosen the the bracket, install duct, re-secure the bracket.

I dont have the PRL HVI but you don't need to remove the ECU to install it. Of the 3 cars I know that run it none of them had the ECU completely removed.

I dont have the PRL HVI but you don't need to remove the ECU to install it. Of the 3 cars I know that run it none of them had the ECU completely removed.
For me, I found it a lot easier to service by removing ECU. I don't really see an issue with removing it if you pay attention to the pins when reinstalling.
