Is the EPR front lip in the style of Varis front lip? I like what you have since it doesn’t add much height to it and take away ground clearance.
Yes, you are absolutely right. This EPR front lip is Varis style. I was planning to wrap it with xpel gloss black, so having no Varis emblem is critical. But decided to go 'subtle cf' all around the car.

EPR fitment is great, also I like it that no branding exist in EPR parts; prefer subtle OEM+ look. No sticker, no emblem that too loud. All in the details, not over the top.

Also, I have enough crying moment in the past when my expensive front lip ripped apart ... LOL ... :banghead:

1. Removing the nuts off the DP studs without completely galling the threads.
2. Attempting to remove the studs for replacement (could never find a solution that didn't require a welder). Would love help/advice on how you did it.
3. Angling out and pulling the actual DP from the engine bay. There is a proper way but every YT video skips it.
4. Squeezing the new DP with the OEM heat shield in place.

I've worked on many cars in the past, and for the simple task at hand, this was unnecessarily tedious.
You are right, with the OEM hardware it is extremely tedious. 100x easier once titanium hardware is in.

I was able to use the double nut method to get the lower stud closest to the front bumper out of the turbo. The top one toward the engine was a complete bitch and I ended up having to remove the turbo and use a welder to get it out.

I didn't have issues pulling the DP from the engine bay. Totally removing the lower support brackets definitely helps. Just have to rotate it this way and that while pulling up and it tends to come out pretty easy in my experience.

I would suggest you look for a sidemount for your front plate ASAP, it's blocking a lot of the IC's airflow.

Posts on FB today showing terrible galling of Ti studs on someone's DP. Ti studs are a bad idea IMO because of galling potential and in general I'm not a fan of Ti as a fastener.

Yeah, the front plate is removable (Sly Brackets). 90% of the time, the plate is off the car.

Thanks for the advise

Got the Apexi front pipe and exhaust installed earlier in the day. It is loud even in comfort mode. I hope my wife doesn’t give me the stink eye every time she sits in it. I already told her it isn’t as loud as my S2000 but it is noticeable. Especially between 3k-4k range, there is a bit of drone. But we are stuck with it. ?

The exhaust looks nice and APEXi is quality stuff. Is this not valved? I have a Borla on my DE5 and it's almost stock at comfort mode cruising on the freeway which is perfect for when I'm driving my wife around.

It has a valve. One of the reason I chose this exhaust. I watched a lot of YouTube videos on these exhaust. I’d say sound, like looks is subjective. Even if sound can be quantified by a decibel meter, I’d bet is a certain range, it’s just “loud” or “quiet”. I think with the windows up and my slow city driving, it will be okay. I just might need to set my engine mode to comfort instead of sport within individual mode.

Got it.

Honestly it might just be because it's new also. When I first picked up my car I thought "omg I ruined it for day-to-day" but now it's fine - got used to it. Comfort is great and no complaints from my wife. I put it on there on there for longer drives as well.

My understanding is that it will get slightly louder after break in. But the getting used to something aspect will apply. I have a long drive to Watkins Glen this weekend. If my son falls asleep for 30 minutes, it’s good enough.

At the end of the day, my wife will be accepting if it isn’t too loud for our kid.

It would be easier to ignore if I didn’t have the center redline to remind me.

The exhaust is pretty cool. I like it so far.
Oh no doubt I would feel the same way I don’t like it when my steering wheel isn’t centered I’m very OCD about it. I bought a new Toyota truck one time and the only vehicle I ever bought without test driving because it was blocked in I test drove another with similar options. I thought it’ll be good it’s a Toyota :) well to My surprise it was off about 4 inches or so to the left. Brought it back and they never got it perfect it was always off until I had it lifted then the shop that did the lift centered it for me. But the first few months it was off it drove me nuts! lol

Had the alcantara boot sitting around for a while now and was dreading changing because of the damn boot color removal. I just ended up cutting the zip tie and then pulling out the pins on the color and pushing town. I really see no way of doing it the way honda says to do it. Apart from that easy install.

Nice piece from overland designs. I have to say this is probably one of the worst thing inside the type R, the cheap fake leather shifter boot, it feels really cheap. Bummer we did not get the alcantara boot + steering wheel like other continents. I have the wheel in a box, have to find a weekend to install it.

11th Gen Honda Civic What did you do to your FL5 today? boot
