No. Primarily because I'm shooting for the 425hp mark. There have been dyno tests that show that having the second inlet instead of just the one that meshes with the hood is advantageous for builds over 400 horsepower.

What all would I have to install to get to the 425whp mark if you don't mind me asking?

@Jester04 and @Two Step Performance would likely have an easier recipe outline for that sort of question. Honestly I don't think it would take too much!
Thanks for the tag. 425WHP is pretty easy to do. A turbo upgrade will be required. The factory fuel system is fine for that power level. Our top recommendation would be:

  • 27WON Kuro Turbocharger
  • Downpipe Upgrade (spoiler alert, we favor our TSP HEDP :p)
  • Intercooler Upgrade
  • PRL High Volume Intake
  • Hondata + Custom Calibration
  • 93 octane

Could not agree more! This is a solid list for anybody looking for more power.

I thought the intercoolers were causing overheating though. Also, turbo necessary? What if I switched out turbo for ethanol instead?

You're asking a small factory journal bearing turbo for a lot. Ethanol will net you more power. There are recent intercooler updates coming which utilize R-fin technology that far exceed beyond the inefficiencies of bar and plate. My build isn't a great comparison because I'm building an endurance engine. I want to be able to flog it to death for long periods of time worry free. I upgraded the fuel system so that it's operating well below its maximums. Upgraded the block so that I can introduce boost sooner, and upgraded the head for some protection in the case of a missed shift, which can happen in high g-force corners. I also want to run on pump gas only so that I don't need to bring mixed fuel with me to the track, and can instead use the available pumps.

I’m not sure that an honest 400WHP with the factory turbo is possible even with race fuel. I also don’t think you want to run 400WHP (or more) on any turbo with the factory intercooler.

Bolt on (drop in) turbo upgrades are so easy these days, and cost efficient as well. They are by far the best bang for your buck bolt on modification. ?

Question So the best mod would be just a tsp tune on stock turbo and most bolts ons would just be a waste

Thank you guys! Sorry to muddle up your thread @PointByPatrol . I'll be tip toeing through this build it seems. I built my si pretty solid, I plan on doing the same with this build platform. I want what makes the most sense first time around then to drive it everyday too and from work. I need to figure out what I can push this motor to safely and reliably without having to do internals in order to make it a daily and be able to get the most out of it at the same time, no tracking.

There are tunes out there that can push you to a very respectable 375hp without having to dump a ton of money in to the car. Just stick they can handle quite a bit!

Bro the truth is if you're going to drive hard then things are going to break. Don't care what you do to try and safeguard your car.

In my time building cars I've had everything from built k20 ERL sleave block and 4pistons 163 heads. To tube chassis evo from mazworks.

End of the day the only thing certain is that things have a limit and motorsports is expensive.
