I'm really impressed so far with the performance of the Spoon thermostat. I didn't expect it to have such a big impact on coolant temps. I'm going racing next weekend, and will get a chance to see how it performs under stress with factory coolant!

How are you going racing if you have no tune? ?

Also on the thermostat remind me of turning off your Code for that so you don’t get one.

I honestly don't know why I look at these build threads. My mind starts wandering thinking about 375+hp and my wallet cringes ? I do appreciate so many are modding this platform. Eventually I'll want some additional power.

@PointByPatrol is the oil temp a calculation based on coolant temp? If so would you need a different oil temp readout? I thought I remember reading that oil temp displayed wasnt true oil temp?

Well I can get you pretty close to that number without spending a ton of cash. Just a Hondata flashpro and unlock with a tune and you are basically there.

It would run you around $1100-1200.

Yes, the oil temp is calculated, but it uses coolant temps as part of that equation. We'll see what happens!

I thought the intercoolers were causing overheating though. Also, turbo necessary? What if I switched out turbo for ethanol instead?
Ethanol will get you close but to run it properly without any issues or decreasing boost a fuel pump is needed.

Stop trying to sell me your fuel pump ? I'm just kidding around. We can't run e30 without an upgraded fuel pump on these cars? I was able to run e30 on my 19 si without ever upgrading my turbo or fuel pump. Just curious, seriously.

You can run a blend on the stock pump but aircharge/ boost will need to be reduced though. So you don’t really run it at it’s full potential and just make the rest of the power with timing and vct changes.

Would an aftermarket turbo be more efficient with heat or produce even more? I assume more since it's generating more power.

Well that is a complicated question. Air gets hot when compressed that is why you have the intercooler to help out. But usually compressor outlet temps go down a bit when the turbo is the right size for the application.

Well I’m glad it went to a good home. But it makes me wonder if I should reorder one for myself. Will it really cause issues in the winter for me?
