How do you keep your type R clean?

I don't have an FL5, but I just wash mine regularly. I'll do a foam cannon and pressure wash every 3 or so and then I use the Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Waterless Wash and Wax in between to maintain it.

I do too, but it's my daily and I have to drive it everywhere lol

same....the dirt roads around here killin me. although the LSD works really well in the mud...lol

Rinseless every two weeks or so lets me get away with doing only one contact wash every 4-5 weeks.

I probably only drive my car once or twice a week. Has full front clip PPF and is garage kept which helps greatly! I’m absolutely anal about keeping my cars clean though and I take pride in always having a clean car. So, every time I drive it, when I get home I use spray detailer or spray wax and wipe her down. Every time without fail. Including the interior. It really only takes an extra 20-30 minutes if you keep up with it which is nothing. I’ve never been a fan of letting any of my cars get filthy and then spend hours cleaning it one day. Rather just spend the extra 20 after I drive to make sure it’s always clean.

I’ve done this with every car I own though not just the Type R. I really only drive it when the weather is good but in the off chance I get caught in the rain, I will not wipe it down with detailer. I’ll wait for the rain to stop then foam it down and wash thoroughly with water. That’s rare though.

I hate washing my car! Luckily for me, I think SGP kinda looks better with a film of dirt on it. But after a couple of weeks I start feeling guilty and give her a bath.
I do like a clean interior, however. I usually vacuum weekly.

As someone who handwashes the family vehicles I am a believer in ceramic coatings. It makes more easier...

I purchased a lifetime ceramic... Which means I need to have it reapplied annually.

When it was my daily driver I hand washed it every two weeks. I've since purchased Ridgeline as my daily and so it doesn't need cleaning as often.

I have a kit that I have out together that I use to keep the vehicles clean. I'm glad to try and be helpful with any specific questions you may have.

Touchless every now and then. Sometimes I'll use the spray it myself bays. Then just lay someone detail it once or twice a year ?

I always get off rubber from track days though. That's important.

Rinseless is where it’s at. I was hesitant at first coming from the old school two bucket mentality but you just gotta trust the science behind it.

I don’t see any swirls or marring from having done rinseless and I can usually knock the car out (no wheels) from start to finish in ~40mins

I don't believe in rinseless or waterless washes for too many reasons, but that's a discussion for another day.

If I don't need to break out the pressure washer, I can perform a proper contact wash including wheels in under 40 minutes. The FL5 is a relatively small car and simple to clean quickly if you're intentional.

The reality is it's extremely difficult to keep your daily crispy without spending an inordinate amount of time tending to it. After a while it becomes flat out exhausting and a huge time suck. I get why some people let it go and just deal with the car being filthy longer or more often than they'd like. I purchased a monthly subscription (unlimited washes) at a hand car was place for my daily beater. The other cars I don't daily so I only wash like once every 1-2 months because I don't drive them often and only take them out when the weather is decent.

Maybe not all the reasons, but what're the biggest ones? I hear people sing the praises of rinseless washes on other forums, but I don't think it's a permanent solution - just for when you don't want to contact wash the car, right?

Here we go....

The debate about rinseless to me is the same as the debate about 3k OCIs. A lot is rooted in old school mentality that admittedly, is hard to root out (hell, I was a holdout for the same reasons for a long time).

Now that I've had some experience with it and can attest to the fact that it works safely without any swirls or marring as long as you know its limitations (can't do it if the car is pretty dirty) it's fine.

A neighbor turned me on to RainX Spot Free car wash liquid. 99% improvement if you have hard water.

I don't see the value in spending about the same amount of time or more walking around the car with a spray bottle and several microfiber towels to get the car 80% clean. And if the car is moderately to heavily soiled, you would do well to perform a proper wash anyway because you will absolutely mar the surface. Wild that people believe they can use rinseless car washes and over time not induce defects in the paint. It seems the definition of swirls means different things to different people.

I understand there are instances where someone may live in a cold climate region, an apartment or condo building, or areas of the country with water restrictions. I get it, but this idea that rinseless/waterless washes are a substitute for a proper car wash is nonsense. In the end, it's your car and you are free to do with it as you please.

So basically wash with water (myself or at a car wash where I can clean it myself) and only use rinseless when water would freeze on the car (since I'm in the north). Definitely wouldn't use rinseless when there's salt out though, that would be bad methinks
