Water works great and it hydrates the leather with no chemicals.

So I have an update and it's pretty mixed with the gyeon.

The actual cleaner itself might just be some rebranded sonax alcantara cleaner because it not only smells the same but, behaves the same on the steering wheel (only gyeon said to never get on upholstery).

Long story short, the cleaner worked really well (gave me a scare for a bit, since the bottle said not to use on real leather, but confirmed with gyeon that the type r wheel is fine since it's a coated/pre-treated natural leather), but the protective coat has been kinda iffy.

After cleaning with the leather cleaner my wheel was matte, I let it dry for a bit, then applied approximately 3 spritz of the coat lightly on the wheel using the provided pad. The finish after the first light brush felt kinda tacky once I let it dry, and I figured a another pass couldn't hurt. Here's what it looked like after the first pass.

I applied another light coat. This morning when I went to go out to run errands, the wheel wasnt tacky or shiny, but definitely not matte. It's almost like a veneer on the wheel since the coating kinda shrunk as it dried overnight.

I think I'll let it cure more throughout the day, then I'll wipe it with some water and a microfiber cloth to see if that almost sticky sensation goes away.

Any suggestions or experiences with this @apl360

I clean the wheel with a clean mf and just water. As best as one could. Dry it up. Then start with the mild cleaner. I spray it on the brush that I brush the leather with. After I wipe that down. I again hit it with water and a clean mf cloth. To get all the cleaner out. Dry. Then I add maybe 2-3 pea sized amounts of the conditioner to my palm. Rub in both hands and apply to the wheel by hand. Then I lightly wiped and give it a little buff too

takes about 1-3 hours before the wheel feels softer.

may I plz dm U my #? It’ll be faster to support U this way 👍🏽

I’m retired af and home all day lol

Shot you a dm, it's gotten better throughout the day and is a lot less tacky, so perhaps I over applied the film.

So I went out and bought some griots garage ph neutral interior cleaner and it has done wonders. I applied it 3-4 times and the wheel is getting really close to feeling like the factory finish again (only place it doesn't are the problem areas that already existed).
