It would be but these newer cars with CAN bus communications are very complex. So the chances of a cheaper option coming out is limited. Just give Hondata time, they will keep adding functions and features. Also the Bosch ecu is very complex, but some new features could easily added like Bootmod3 in the bmw’s. The problem I see is that the type R is so limited that it might not be worth from a business standpoint to add a few features which would require so many hours of work.

I think Motec would be the only way to go if you really want functionality.
well if it’s any consolation, your Integra brothers are here that would benefit from the same/similar tune so Hondata has more incentives to further development

I’m sure more features will come and it will be great. We just have to be patient, both cars are still too new so it takes time for development.

I’m going with Hondata, and in my opinion it will work for 99% of the owners. The 1% of those owners trying to make the most power or push the platform into uncharted territory are the ones that might have issues past like 600hp.

Just so I understand what this does correctly… I assume with this flash, I can tune my car, however I want, but can also keep the stock mapping, as is, if I prefer, correct?

Can I save the individual maps and change my mapping whenever I wish?

I really don’t want to do anything stupid with the power… But who doesn’t love a little more, right?

Does anyone have suggested limits to maintain reliability on this motor? I know any additional power will only degrade the life of the engine, but is there a sweet spot? Maybe +50/+50 from stock hp/tq?

Is Hondata known to be a conservative tune?
Its conservative power wise, but it does spike hard down low to get the most torque. Still should be more than safe for someone who does not want to go crazy.

I think you mentioned it before, but what's the issue with the spike low? LSPI?

Ive been schooled on here that valve float can be an issue if romping on it in low rpm at a higher gear. Similar to trying to go fast on a 10 speed in 10th gear from a slow speed starting point - it stresses everything. Ive been told “don’t be dumb” and it should be fine. By way of all my research its less about the power numbers and more about how its applied. Low gear romping is less worrisome given the gearing is made to get up to speed but jamming on it in 6th while going 55 is a recipe for grenading.

It is and it has to be. There's too much reputation risk in offering a calibration that's tuned to the ragged edge. The OTS map is designed to work as well on a car in Vermont as it does on a car in Colorado. Reliability, consistency, and safety are paramount and that's been the case for Hondata for the last 20+ years.

Anyone know if/when Hondata's Jailbreak Tour is coming to the midwest?
