Thanks for the link. I like to read the "why" behind different techniques.
No problem! Even if it's not quite needed to get the FL5 to rotate I'll tell you it's a ton of fun to practice and it's a valuable skill to have.

I've only done one track day with the PS4S, in a different car. The grip was pretty good, but the car was AWD.

I'm curious about how the bespoke PS4S on the FL5 CTR compares with other tires for this car. I wouldn't be tracking the CTR much (have other track cars), but I do want to try it on track.
I wouldn't use the tires if you want a serious day. They weren't really good for me. I blew out one of them on my first day and I was sliding around everywhere because they couldn't maintain the heat. Theres alot of wheel and not a whole lot og tire so curbs will mess them up. I had to take my wheels to a wheel repair shop because they git banged up pretty good.

It was a night and day difference when I got a proper 200 TW tire. I probably gained like 5 seconds alone.

Are you running +R with Long Hold or Pedal Dance? The dynamics change quite a bit.

In +R with Long Hold...I don't trail at all, it overloads the front tires, and over-slows the car on every entry. Deleting the trail and letting AHA do its thing has netted far better results.

Hell yea it's fun lol. I have a few corners I plan on practicing next week. Lower speed 2nd and 3rd gear stuff. Gotta pick some safer corners to see how car reacts.

Oh and let my instuctor know lol

Good info.

For the road, I've generally found PS4S to be a very good tire:

- works down to freezing temps
- handles damp/wet roads well
- better ride quality and less noise than Cup 2
- enough grip, and progressive

Good info.

Its great for the street, but thats why its not good for the track.

I will agree that they are great in the rain on track but thats about it, walls are too soft and they overhead quickly. But I rather be on a ps4s then an all season if that is all I have but if you can get a 200tw you will be better off on almost all aspects unless its raining a lot and there is tons of standing rain

Completed my first track day in the FL5 this weekend! I tracked my BMW M2 many times but this was my first time at Thunderhill West.

Current mods are Eibach Pro-kit springs, ITS ADS, PRL RMM, Milltek Road+ Exhaust, Hondata + Phearable Stage 2, Castrol SRF, alignment with -2 camber all around and 0 front toe.

Handling balance was surprisingly neutral, rear rotates well on corner entry with trail braking or a throttle lift, some mid corner push and then the diff does magic on exit. I’m so impressed with the differential coming out of 2nd and 3rd gear corners. As expected, the factory PS4S overheated after 1-2 hot laps. I'm very excited to try the car with some proper 200tw tires - hopefully that helps with the mid-corner push as well. The factory pads were a little unnerving as well so those will be replaced before any heavy braking tracks.

From my own experience that should be fine (I would recommend being prepared with spares though) - those micro cracks usually aren't a problem, just watch for the formation of real cracks - when it gets to this point, you've probably gone too far (reference pictures from my old C5Z06):
