Anyone know where I can buy a replacement front grill for the FL5 Type R? Mine has a bit of damage and I'd like to replace it. I believe the part price is about $250, but my local dealer is marking it up to over $500, which seems like robbery.
About 1200 miles on my CTR so far.
The car is so much fun that I'm having a hard time reaching for the keys of my other cars.
I'm enjoying the car for both commuting and fun drives. It really does feel like a FWD hot hatch designed by the Porsche GT division.
Manual transmission really...
I have the shop change the tires, so dealing with the wheels hasn't been an issue. The centerlocks lock, so no need to check torque after they're torqued and locked.
I have carbon ceramics also. The pads last a reasonably long time. The rotors should last about 50 track days, and then, yes...
What's the issue with the wheels and brakes? My car is factory stock, didn't even change alignment or aero, and it feels perfect to me on both road and track.
I currently have a 991.2 GT3RS and a GT4 RS. Previously had a 981 GT4, among other cars. Have tracked them all.
For me, the GT3 RS is the best car I've ever driven on road and track, absolutely sublime. My wife loves it too. Yes, expensive body parts, but that's not a problem if you don't...
This weekend, I drove my CTR, a McLaren 570, and three Porsches: 718 Boxster GTS 4.0, Spyder RS, and 992 Turbo S.
I enjoyed the CTR just as much as the other cars. It’s really that good. ??
First bath today. Really made me appreciate the aesthetics of this car and the attention to detail.
Took my nephew for a ride. He’s long lusted after this car, but never had a chance to test drive or ride in one. He said it exceeded his expectations, now he badly wants one.
I LOVE this car...
I think the EN is right on the same tier as the CTR, just about as fast, and a more racy soundtrack. CTR feels more like a GT Porsche, EN feels more like an old school rally car. I think the EN is more intuitive to drive, CTR is more surgical.
A car can corner well even if doesn't stay relatively flat, but staying flat does tend to improve grip.
Best and safest place to learn the dynamics of the car is on track. Finding that you've exceeded the limits on public roads can lead to bad outcomes.
Yes, finer adjustment is a benefit of power seats. I like to make micro adjustments to get my positioning just right, and that's not possible with the CTR seats.
I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my CTR, and time will tell how I feel about it with thousands of miles on the odometer.
But right now, I'd say that the CTR has just as much soul as any of my other cars, hence it being addictive to drive, but it has a different soul than the other cars...
Being in my late 50s, I would go with the Honda because the name has conveyed quality for decades, plus Honda has meaningful involvement in motorsport. I trust Honda just as much as Mercedes. The Acura name doesn't really mean anything in my mind, neither positive nor negative.
FWIW, when I decided to shop for a fun FWD and/or hot hatch car, the Integra Type S wasn't even on my list.
Comparing the ITS and CTR, I wanted the car with the wing, racier seats and interior, less weight, stiffer suspension, iconic status, and lower cost as a bonus.
My options were quickly...
I might as well make this an impressions thread also, and have changed the title accordingly.
My experience with cars over the past decade is mostly with Porsches (including several GT cars), and I've done about 250 track days.
I'm in my late 50s, which I imagine is on the older end for a CTR...
Good info.
For the road, I've generally found PS4S to be a very good tire:
- works down to freezing temps
- handles damp/wet roads well
- better ride quality and less noise than Cup 2
- enough grip, and progressive
I've only done one track day with the PS4S, in a different car. The grip was pretty good, but the car was AWD.
I'm curious about how the bespoke PS4S on the FL5 CTR compares with other tires for this car. I wouldn't be tracking the CTR much (have other track cars), but I do want to try it on...
