I've had no idle issues with my PRL. I would avoid Cobb since it needs a tune where all the others don't.

If I was going ultra premium I would probably go Eventuri.
yeah, I guess I'd avoid Cobb as well if you're not planning on making the car gain any extra power...espeically if you're not using a bigger turbo and obviously not planning to use Hondata, etc, so definitely not worth it.

If those out there can't get away from PRL, I'm sure PRL will do the same as Cobb and make a bigger MAF like they did for the FK8, which I believe was even bigger? I'm sure then, people will say it's worth it to get a bigger MAF and tune then.

I’ve had the GruppeM on the car for 6000 miles now. No issues. Highly recommended it
nice, you're a lucky one lol.

My FK8 never had so many touchy issues with idle and aftermarket intakes like the FL5 has given me. Just not as lucky I guess.

I remember reading a response from prl saying there was no need to make a larger maf housing on the FL5 since the maf sensor was different (the fk8 already had the race maf because of this).

Perhaps someone from @PRL Motorsports could chime in?

interesting...so that means having a bigger overall MAF doesn't provide any gains, even after tuning?

right, because the FL5 has a greater "frequency-based mass airflow sensor, which offers more range and power potential".

So wouldn't more airflow help provide more power when tuning for bigger gains? Or are you saying that more airflow doesn't help provide more power?
I think that first assertion is right, so having a bigger inlet would make sense. But based off my question in that linked post, looks like changing the maf housing size wouldn't make a difference.

interesting...tuners are seeing that it does. What information do you have to go off of to make that assumption?

Just the questions and answers I got from my question in that linked post, that's why I asked to see if prl could chime in. I'm definitely not the authority on this, but ive yet to see the most prominent intake airbox maker for this platform make a race maf, so it raises my suspicions as to why.

if you modify your car why wouldn’t you want a tune? COBB has the most tuner friendly intake on the market

I trust the tuners word. I’m just a parts guy not a tuner but do believe it does make difference. 1:1 posted about the first one they tested. I would trust what the tuners say not what the manufacturer says. Of course each manufacturer will support how they built it and why. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/17pPxnVh2e/ post the question in the group and tag Mike Sweeney

I have also been running the GruppeM intake prior to a tune for 5K miles and after a tune for another +5K miles. I have not experienced any idle or other issues with it.

It is worth noting that when the intake was initially released, some idle issues were reported due to an air leak around the MAF. GruppeM then made a revision to include a small tube of liquid gasket sealant and updated the instructions to eliminate the potential air leak around the MAF.

ah yeah, I tried that white liquid gasket sealant, but for me, it just never stood up to hard driving and hot temps..and broke loose, causing the leak around the MAF. I gave up lol. But good to hear it's working for you.

I’ve had the GruppeM for a few thousand miles and had zero issues. It has been great, and I’d recommend it to anyone.
