Saw a YouTube video about someone saying that most of the FL5 intakes create "idle issues". The video also mentioned how Cobb doesn't have the issue (while also saying his cobb intake flew apart).

Has anyone else experienced this problem? What is it?

Depends on the intake. Some intakes you need a tune such as COBB. COBB had 1 and a half issues out of hundreds of units so far. They listened and fixed their issue witht he screws backing out. I am runnin the original COBB intake I am not worried. A lot of issues with aftermarket parts are install error. Can you post the video you saw?

There is a thread on here about the COBB intake. Also I have never heard of the PRL intake with idle issues LOL unless they got the Race Maf and didnt know it lol. I do agree with AIRTEC being the best bang for the buck I used that breifly when I was trying things out as a dealer for them. I honestly believe the COBB issue was install error and wasnt checked properly after installing it. Plenty of tuners using this intake pushing serious power and no issues. My opinion is COBB is good and Infinity Design is the best premium intake. PRL is the best budget friendly intake by far along with AIRTEC

What do you think of gruppem? I've been stuck between eventuri, infinity design and that.

PRL and COBB are my backups if those arent that great

GruppeM is just pricey and hard to put together. GruppeM has better up top power but Infinity Design is the mid range torque king and has the nicest carbon

I believe I saw posts from Gruppem / Blitz owners who had idle issues post-install pre-tune. That's the only time I recall seeing reports like that (unless someone used a different sized MAF, like Cobb or PRL's race unit, and didn't get tuned for it).

@02SilverSiHB could you shed some light on the idle issues, since I believe you posted the video. Curious how bad it was on those intakes.

Prl had a very slight idle issue where the revs would climb a bit when coming to a stop. Barely noticeable but I didn't care for it. I'd say it would climb to about 1.2k, hober a bit on that, fall down and come back up to 1.2k rpm.

Afe was horrible, very noticeable and caused a CEL. Afe sent me a replacement pipe but I sold it. They said it was due to where the MAF would sit and didn't create a good seal on their previous pipes

Gruppem was a tad worse than PRL. It would go away after adjusting everything. I believe it was due to all the moving pieces and over engineered intake...you will see a lot selling theirs. No cel, but the idle would rise a when coming to a stop...to about 2k rpm and fall down very very slowly.

So far these intakes didNOTt give me idle issues:
Kn (horrible intake I know, but tried it anyway)
Airtec
Cobb
Proram

I had my gruppem tuned. After a while the idle issue returned. I know a few out there had the same issue. You rarely see them post about it since it's embarrassing to spend so much on an intake like that lol.

I have no shame

I've had no idle issues with my PRL. I would avoid Cobb since it needs a tune where all the others don't.

If I was going ultra premium I would probably go Eventuri.
