I recently (finally) got a phone that actually has wireless charging and for the day or two that it took my phone case to arrive, was using the wireless charging pad in the type r to charge it. Contrary to a lot of people's experience here, I've had a great time with it.

Now that I've gotten my phone case, the charger keeps giving me the yellow and green flashing lights (which I read means something is obstructing it). I took off the phone case and it works fine. It's supposed to be wireless charging compatible, so I suspect either the case is kinda shit, or the charging in the car is 😅

Has anyone had any luck with specific wireless charging compatible cases/brands? I have a pixel 9a, so not top tier charging, but it worked before. Current case is spigen.

I bought into the Quad Lock ecosystem since I ride motorcycles. I've had a good experience with their case and charging on the the FL5 wireless charging pad.

My only gripe is that charging is slow on the pad with my iPhone 17 Pro Max. Google tells me the pad in the FL5 offers 15W Qi wireless charging, while the iPhone now supports up to 25W. Wondering if there's a way to upgrade the pad for faster charging. 🤔

I have a Dbrand case for the Galaxy S23 Ultra that does flawless wireless charging with the official Samsung wireless charger, but the wireless charge pad on the Type R mostly just heats up the phone so I'm pretty sure it's just not a very good charger.

my phone won't stay on the pad (iphone 13 mini, too small for the bumpers to keep it in place.) i bought a magsafe-compatible pad and a right-angle usb-a to usb-c cable and use that on top of the factory pad. reasonably unobtrusive, and holds the phone in place while charging.

I just don’t use it. No magnets to hold the phone in place either. It’s a frustrating experience.

That’s cool! Any chance you can send the details on those items? Thanks.

I've an S25U with it's standard thin clear plastic case, without magnets or other gimmicks, it charges fine.

Most phones will just get hot on the OE charging mat because it cannot sit flat against it due the camera bump. Using a case will just make it worst as it increases the air gap and trap more of the heat.

Looks like I'm definitely not the only one. I was inspecting my case last night and there's the tiniest air gap between it and any flat surface I put it. I ordered the official Google case that's designed for wireless charging, so we'll see how that does.

Otherwise I explore other options...

Don’t have android but both cases i have for the iphone work fine.

That said as everyone mentioned it its a terrible wireless charger. Very slow and makes phone hot. But it has come in handy sometimes so I rather it be there than not
