Actually, all cars coming from Japan (and everywhere else but the first 100K units from the UK) are getting hit with a 25% tariff under Sec 232. They're negotiating the reciprocal tariffs, but the 232 auto tariff is different. Japan is struggling with negotiating the reciprocal tariff as they actually care more about the 232 tariff on autos. The Type R is subject to the 25% tariff, so crazy to me that the prices haven't gone up yet.

And Honda keeps pumping the FL5 hard from the factory. Vin already gets up to near 5200 and there are still 2 more months to go if they followed schedule like last year till end of August.

I'm guessing MY25 will pass 6000 units at this rate with so many shipments.

As more units imported may decrease resale value, I hope it means better parts availability in the future.
I have no intentions of selling mine. ever :)

I believe that the government mandates x number of years for OEM parts to be available.

my car's been delayed almost a month. Makes me wonder if they delayed offloading them to wait for Trump's reduced tariff.

I asked the dealer about the tariff but don't think they really know anything. Maybe Honda is eating the tariff on these cars? I was thrilled to get MSRP (+ some extras) rather than some fraction of the 25% tariff.

No news.

I’ve seen the MY2026 FL4 vin requirements registered with the NHTSA on 6/26/2025, but none so far for the FL5.
I’m curious what’ll happen—just this time last year, you let us know of the first MY2025 units on their way.

We’re getting nearer to the window where we’ll finally find out what Honda plans to do with the NADM FL5 market and production for MY2026.

Honda has been paying the tariff since April. That's why their profit drops significantly. There was no new FL5 delivered to the dealer in April even though the cars arrived to the port according to roastduck shipment data. So maybe they are figuring out the new tariffs now again. I saw up to #56xx Vin in USA.

My car is 57something. Trump dropped the tariff from 25% to 15% right around the time my car was supposed to be delivered, couple weeks ago. So I suspect that caused my delay.

Heres some more tariffs for ya. You have the Spoon tax and the tariff on top.

Thats not terrible at 4%. Actual Spoon is hitting just about every part with an additional 25%, but taking on 10% so consumers pay 15%.
