The actual oil they put in the engine at the factory isn't anything particularly special, it's the lubricants used during engine assembly that are special, they have an additive package that helps with the "break-in" process. It was recommended to me to not change it too soon by the Shop Foreman of the dealership I used to work for. He's a 20+ year veteran with a fully built Spoon themed FK8 so I trust his word alot more than others. 26k miles and 6 oil changes later my FL5 runs as good as it can. Thanks for your reply!
I’m finding the lack of info from the factory frustrating.
Did you hear about the break-in oil from someone at Honda?
Per your original post, sounds like an early change on a new engine (1500 miles) would not be advisable as the special factory fill is still doing its break-in work?
Be advised, I did not follow any specific break-in procedure and my car saw 7k rpm at the very first on-ramp that looked at me funny.
