Easy camera and mount for track days?

Please forgive me if this topic has already been covered, but I would like to buy a camera and mount to record track days and am hoping for a recommendation about the best options fir someone who is technologically challenged.

Also, is there any way to mount the camera without drilling any holes?

I use a GoPro 11 Mini with an extended arm on my helmet. I never have any issues at the organizations I run with.

Yeah helmet seems to be the way to go.

That said, I've seen tons of events allow suction mounts so I wouldn't completely disregard it, but I don't think you'd get a better view than going the helmet route.

FWIW, I've never had a tech person in any track/racing situation question a suction mount on the car (at least with the push-button style GoPro and others use). Normally I drop a camera down from the sunroof to be eye-level which gives a great perspective, but obviously that's not an option on this platform, so I run a suction mount off the front window with an extension so the camera is a bit farther back - FOV isn't perfect though.

I bought a clamp mount and clamped it to the passenger side seat headrest. Not perfect but was a good angle to see hands and track.

Thanks for the info, but my 2025 FL5 does not have an adjustable headrest, and I don't see anywhere else that a clamp mount would work.

I use a quadlock suction cup mount on the center of my windshield, then use my cell phone with the Track Addict app. Quadlock has suction and a sort of re-useable adhesive built into it. Pretty good for the casual track day. I will probably break down and get a Garmin Catalyst soon.

I haven't been to the track yet but for external i use a suction mount and my insta360 and interior I'm just gonna use my GoPro and maybe a suction mount or my motorcycle helmet and a chin mount with the GoPro. got mics from DJI that magnetize under the hood for audio as well

Used it on my last trackday and I was pretty happy with how it worked. You basically has it wrapped around the harness hole on the seat and I was using it with a GoPro Hero 5 Black...
