It appears to be pretty compelling evidence, but I still wouldn't get all too excited about a screenshot.

I think this comment means folks who want the production to stop root for discontinuation of FL5 because these types of people paid mark up and can thus better justify having paid mark up due to the car being no longer available

Confirmed 26 for US. Dealerships showing 2026 inventory on their back end system.

for 2023-2025 VIN format:

J = Japan
HM = Honda Motor passenger vehicle
FL5 = Civic Type R 2.0L K20C1
G = 5dr hatchback 6MT (not Mexico assembly plant)
4 = type R high-grade trim with full airbag suite
x= check digit
P/R/S = Model year 23, 24, 25 (no I, O ro Q, to avoid confusion with digits zero, and one)
X = Honda Yorii Automobile Plant
nnnnnn =serial number

a 2026 FL5 made in Yorii would be
JHMFL5G4xTXnnnnnn

FL5G4TGW does not make sense as a VIN snippet:

FL5G4 = FL5 5dr hatch 6MT, type R high-grade

but the TGW does not make sense...

T = check digit? should be a valid check digit, not a letter

G = 2016 model year???

W = Honda's Gebze plant in Turkey? but then the VIN would start with TRA, not JHM


another possible interpretation for FL5G4TGW:

FL5G4 = FL5 5dr hatch 6MT, type R high-grade

assume that the check digit omitted then T would indeed be model year code

T= 2026

but then GW does not make sense:

G= not a recognized assembly plant code

W = also not a recognized assembly plant and cannot be the first position of the serial number (because it is not a number...)

so this might not be a VIN code, but rather an internal Honda model code.

yet for 2023-2025 the internal model codes were only six characters:

apparently 2025 did have a GW: FL5G4SGW

there was no two additional characters that would map to the GW in the code above

maybe GW is "ultimate edition" variant? or maybe a plant shift from Japan (but neither G nor W is one of the recognized one character plant codes)

We should find out from Honda soon. Last year MY25 details were reported out the first week in September if I remember correctly.
