2027, remember 2023 is the 1st MY, then 2024 is the 2nd, 2025 is the 3rd, 2026 is the 4th and 2027 is the 5th model year.

if they were coming next month there would definitely be a 2026 type r already listed in the nhtsa database

26 type R has been in NHTSA database since April. It was registered the same time as all civic trim levels. For clarity- same thing happened last year for the 25 FL5- registered the same time as the 25 civic.

Keep in mind NHTSA registration means effectively nothing. There is a single application cost at time of filing regardless of how many models get registered, so it's not incredibly uncommon to see manufacturers just bulk register cars and never make them. Because they may be "undecided".

I think youre incorrect. Do you have a link to the MY26 CTR in the NHTSA database? I have checked and its not in there.

I think youre incorrect. Do you have a link to the MY26 CTR in the NHTSA database? I have checked and its not in there.

VIN prefix was activated months ago and you can do VIN lookups. You can't always find the filing letters (NHTSA isn't required to keep them on file)

Haha yeah that's an awful image, but that's just NHTSAs default example of a hatchback. They don't use actual images of vehicles. I think all pickup trucks look like 2005 F150s on their VIN lookup site

Yeah, like a completely nonfunctional 2D Veloster! What was Honda thinking!? Maybe I’ll change my tune when I start seeing Mugen and Spoon stuff for it.

It's November and MY25 is still incoming to USA. I got curious and downloaded the 26 civic hatchback owner manual and guess what compared to the 25? Almost all "type R" references are gone in 26.

For example, Honda LogR is in the index of 25 manual, but not in 26. So are Beverage holder in 25 showed type R rear middle seat, and picture of type R rear spoiler in 25 about tires tool location but not in 26. That maybe quite a hint unless I am looking at a wrong 26 manual or they made another manual for 26 type R. But I'll wait for Honda final announcement anyway instead of this speculation.

Even if assuming there's no 26, for MY25 pushed to 8000 production already and maybe still more shipment till EOY, it's like 2 years of typical type R production combined into one so there's already the 26 but just squeeze into MY25. At this point, I'm more eager to see how special the limited edition will be rather.
