Yes it would be an option but I really think that cam shines more with a bigger turbo. I think the perfect setup would be upgraded fuel pumps and injectors, free flowing exhaust, intercooler and a MHI turbo at least for track duty.

I agree you will likely get the most out of the cams with an upgraded turbo. However, these gains are hard to ignore for a drop in cam on stock turbo, stock valvetrain, and 93 octane pump gas. There's power everywhere in the rev range. Very impressive for a 4 cylinder 2.0L motor.

Oh I agree completely, they are very good gains and I might even try them in the future. Its one more option for extra power and extra revs. When I go to the XDI pump I might try a 7,500rpm rev limit to see how the car does and how the powerband acts. Have mine now to 7200rpms but have not taken her up there. Once I finish the tune to my liking I will go and dyno the car and test the different maps to give everybody a apples to apples comparison of the same car with different maps.

4 Piston Racing has reported issues with fuel pump control on the XDI pump using the OEM ECU/Hondata set up. These issues were aleviated running a Motec ECU which has better ability to keep the target and actual HP fuel pressures in check. I would be interested to see how you get on with the XDI.

Personally, I would simply want a safe tune that provides healthy gains up top (rather than a spikey bottom end), overcomes the OEM restrictions and makes better use of the OEM components (fueling wise) without having to go down the path of upgrading injectors and pumps (quite expensive), all the while making sure we're not over taxing the already stressed cooling system. Hope I'm not asking for too much :D
TR2 cams would not be out of the question but I would pair it with upgraded valve springs/retainers to provide some extra level of insurance from an over-rev event or similar.

Those issues with Hondata that were unable to control the fuel pump were early problems. Hondata now works with the XDI pump also and with the XDI injectors. So on that front there is progress. And what you are asking is not out of the realm of possible. Once I have all my maps set up I will share the results. With multi map switching it will be a Kill map, fun street map, track map.

But if I have to be the Guinea pig so be it.?

If I recall correctly, Hondata was to release several new maps/mods after SEMA (this past weekend).

I’ve jailbroke my ECU but waiting on a more refined and not so low end spikey map.

That is what I’m currently working on, reduced torque down low with less of a boost spike but still carrying power up top.

That’s great to know! I’ve been away from the forum for a few months (due to pesky and demanding work) so I probably missed this in the past 22 pages ;).

Will this be something that’s released by Hondata in conjunction with your testing/tuning and their verification/validation?

No this will be independently available just like what TSP or Phearable offer.

An unlocked FlashPro from a FK8 will lock to and program an FL5. There is no timeline for a remote jailbreak. It may not be possible.
So glad I read this. I almost sold my flashpro I used for my FK8 lol. Now to get my FL5 ECU unlocked ?

Where is the option in the Hondata Software to add “catless downpipe” mod to the 93 base tune? I only see that option under the 91 option

Yeah I didn't see one, or much at all for 93 octane. There isn't many calibrations to use yet. I'm going to put my high flow cat on this weekend and getting tuned after that.

No option for that yet, you have to get a custom tune.
