This will come with a $3000+ price tag šŸ˜‚
Agree, it likely won't come cheap. There should be discounts through vendors or direct from Japan once the tariffs settle or go away. I'm keen to see additional photos of the exhaust installed and from different angles. The tips in the photo look really large relative to the OEM tips and look a little odd to me. This is also a prototype so it remains to be seen what the final product will be.

HKS is bringing another SS exhaust to the market with a triple tip valved option. The below information is from the placard in the photo.
  • By adopting three 110mm/4.33" STM tail pipes, the design retains the stock appearance while delivering a powerful and dynamic rear view.
  • A large-diameter valve reduces drone during normal driving while delivering a racy sound at high RPM
  • A straight-through 74.7mm/3" front pipe significantly reduces exhaust resistance and expands tuning potential.
The photos are from TAS.

Cool looking exhaust, but the tips are weird with the cuts.

If you look at the far right of the photograph you'll see a catted downpipe HKS will also bring to market this year. It will feature a 150-cell catalyst.

I do believe the pattern/lines in the tips are resonated tips. Similar to factory resonated tips, but different style.

150 cell catted downpipe

Issa no on those tips. Too large, too weird. I'm pleased to have selected an exhaust some time ago and move on to other pursuits. Too many choices, and far too many considerations.

It is definitely a unique look. I’m ok with them being funky if there is an actual function to that shape. What I don’t like is that the exhaust is a beautiful polished stainless steel and the tips look to be aluminum? Maybe they are titanium, but Ti has a sheen and these look matte like Al. It’s still a prototype though so the production version may be different.

Same. I do find it interesting how there’s so many options by all of these manufacturers yet only a small handful of them sound like their manufacturers truly wanted to craft a particular sound. The majority of options available sound like stock but louder and with a little more rasp. IMO

like you Im glad with the exhaust option I landed on. Type s sounds great now.

I did some digging re the MXP(Mackin Industries) exhaust I dropped above. Promo video sounds different from the real world in person vid's I have heard (I know iPhone's don't do it justice and promos are just that, promos to sell the exhaust). Either way, IMO given the engine/turbo set up for this car no one has mastered the sweet spot yet (not sure they will either). I just find most exhausts either sound to similar to stock(some big names surprisingly), are a little deeper (subjective) or the least desirable of the 3, obnoxiously shouty. I am convinced that the engine simply doesn't sound great no matter how much lipstick ya put on it. Go ahead and defend your exhaust because you think its best. Your $$$ your decision. I have come to the realization that this car will always sound "pretty good" or "not bad" but at least for now its just not a head-turner unless you are a diehard Honda Boi (nothing wrong with that mind you). I think my AWE sounds pretty good. Im ok with that. Fingers crossed that eventually someone cracks the code but for now, pretty good is good enough for me. Happy Hunting.

The problem stems from the cylinder head integrated exhaust manifold, there's no real way to change the sound because you can't play with the exhaust pulses the same way. All they can really do is add or subtract noise and add or subtract rasp.

On the ea888 gen 3 and 4, folks have divorced it completely for the sake of adding an actual exhaust header manifold. But at that point, it’s race car shit. Only a matter of time before it’s solved on the k20c.

there’s this sort of xray exploded looking diagram of the whole head. The integrated manifold seems big with wide runners. Or primaries? I’m not sure what to call those cavities. I can’t help but think this is gonna flow very well for a lot of hp targets and goals

I’ll say, on the ea888 with divorced integrated header thingy. It doesn’t seem to change the exhaust note any. Maybe cuz all the ones I’ve heard had larger full frame turbos and the hot side just dampens the sound some?

ultimately. Our expectations can be a little fucked. A modern turbo 4 isn’t gonna sound great. The only 4 cylinders that sound great seem to be flat/boxer 4’s and v4’s. That’s it. Best we can hope for is ā€œgoodā€ cuz we will never achieve ā€œgreatā€

respectfully speaking of course. No offense to my fellow piece of shit turbo 4 banger owners LOL ā¤

We're all just wishing for days of old when you and your buddies could have a Honda with the exact same engine, but if I bought a Greddy exhaust it sounded complete different from your DC sports exhaust and the next guys Apexi exhaust, all while each of them sounded great.

Yes I agree but all us combined still had less power than a stock FL5 šŸ˜‚

I’m old as fuck dude. I remember when the 8th gen came out. ā€œThe k engine sounds like shit. The b engine sounds better. Why would Honda do thisā€

I don’t think we as a community will ever be happy šŸ˜‚

I had a type s and eventually traded in for the 8th gen si when the 4 door released. Since Florida had no emissions I immediately went 4-1 headers, cat delete and custom mandrel bent 3ā€ exhaust+ tune. IMO it sounded glorious. The b engine purists disagreed tho. That’s ok. Everyone can have an opinion.

I think out of the box the type r sounds like shit. Its induction sounds are nice, the exhaust note sucks and that fake engine noise is gross. I don’t understand why does the type s get a slightly nicer sounding exhaust with way better real engine sounds pumped into the cabin and the r doesn’t. Mind boggling. And for folks that track, the fake engine sounds are important. I get that. But it could’ve just ran with the type s’s method. Having the extra mic/knock sensors transmit the current sound into the cabin.

but with a little money + the type s pops + tuning so the rear valve works like the type s’s. It’ll sound nice enough. IMO. My neighbor has a fl5 set up this way with the apexi. Sounds great. Other neighbor kept the stock exhaust, dual resonators and all but did swap to the tsp dp and swapped front pipe too iirc? He’s also tuned with the type s pops and his rear valve was tweaked to work like the type s’s. Sounds good too.

I’m on stock dp. Stock tune. Invidia q300 (always loved the q300 muffler sounds. Always) but removed the resonator for a megaphone. I think my type s sounds pretty good. I’m definitely happy with it

I think the problem with how things are seen lie with us. The old mother fuckers. Our expectations are unrealistic šŸ˜‚ Bro go ask a 20 year old to name the best top 3 rappers ever. You’ll see what I mean. If you’re disgusted by his answer, you may also be an old mother fucker šŸ˜‚
