I put my refundable $500 deposit down last year around July. They told me that they will sell it at $5k over MSRP at that very moment. I was the second person on their list but the guy ahead of me backed out due to the color being BB so I pulled the trigger!
I don't follow. Are you using this tactic in hopes of securing a CTR or an ITS?
Obviously the CTR but if you’re confused because I’m excited about a car which is essentially the same car but widely available it’s because that’s the point.
Concur completely....which is why I still don't own one. I'm just saying people are posting as if $15-20K is the new norm. It's simply the number they give you on the phone. I think posts like this 'normalize' the outrageous ADM's. Even the inventory tracker that allows people to input dealer ADM's has become misleading as I is mostly based on telephone conversations. I'm just saying that's their starting point.
The problem with this is.. how many people can just walk into three different dealerships with CTRs sitting on the lot? I have 3 different Honda dealers in our city. None of them have a CTR, and certainly not all at once. The vast majority of us can only call dealers and try to haggle, but as you pointed out, people do not take that as seriously as showing up in person. I often work 60-70 hrs/week, I'm just not going to spend my entire day off driving hours away to a dealer with the hopes that they will negotiate. Probably why I don't have a CTR, but that's my limit.
Sprung a markup on me after we had agreed on a price. I now have an ITS reserved at MSRP, but I like the CTR more and I'm not sure the ITS is worth 52k to me.
Yes, just scroll around and you'll see stickers that show the "MSRP" is whatever crazy ADM number they have. Even my docs are all over the place and make little sense, in the end as long as the # I paid OTD was what I agreed on I didn't really care what they called the markup or where it was put.
