Did some data logging during this past week and sent the files over to Jester. I’m sure he will post up the info when he can, I’m interested to see what his thoughts are comparing the Wagner and PRL.

Ok here is some preliminary data, we will still need more testing to compare apples to apples.

Take results with a grain of salt since the two intercoolers are being compared at different states with different ambient temperatures. Ambients can be colder in one compared to the other but the IAT 1 might look similar since engine heat will warm up the air but the intercooler might be exposed to slightly different temps.

Also the speed at which the car is traveling will affect these numbers too. So like I said a grain of salt.

@MSUGeoman was kind enough to send me over some data. I tried my best to align the dsta points to the same IAT to the decimal point.

PRL Intercooler in Florida:

This one is just for painting a picture how volatile the speed can be on IAT 2 temps at the intercooler.

Could you dumb this down a bit, or just summarize briefly, what the initial data is telling you? New to the world of intake data.

Sure!

Testing initially indicates that both intercoolers perform similarly and are within 3-4 degrees of each other which to me it is not significant at this time.

Further testing is needed to get more data to be able to provide a clear picture plus a set of rules to get the most accurate data. Like going 60mph on both cars with similar ambient temps ideally tested in the same state.

wouldn't the best data be at the same Ambient, and the delta between ambient and IAT at WOT after say 3-4 back to back runs?

It would be that is why I suggested testing in the same place. I got some customers in South FL with the wagner that might be able to supply me with some data. But it will take time, so can’t promise a time line.

Waking this thread up, how were the hot summer months for you guys running this IC? Thank you @Jester04 for sharing early testing data!
My PRL intercooler is working good! If anybody with a Wagner wants to update data it would be helpful.

Ambient at 89F

IAT 2 MAF 93F

IAT 1 at intake manifold 107F

The intercooler cools more than what it is represented at the manifold. But the radiating heat from the engine really warms up the cold side pipe and the intake manifold.

Any updates on how well the Wagner is performing?

would like to know if anyone actually took it on track and what their coolant temps were overall

One thing I can say is if you want one wait on it bc they still haven't updated the brackets for the US crash bar. Unless you want to fab up your own brackets.
