that’s good information to have vsa on u can kiss the rear pads good by. And I notice the fuel gauge while tracking doesn't seem to accurate
The fuel gauge definitely does not respond quick enough. VIR for example is 3.24 miles long. In a 20 minute session I'll have done 8-9 laps. I have to refuel after each session, or I risk fuel starving the engine in high G-force corners. Depending on my pace I can burn anywhere from 6-8 gallons in a single session.

Is it generally recommended to do the pedal dance for track? Disable the agile handling functionality?

I always do the pedal dance, to me the car feels the most natural. I also run a staggered tire pressures, usually about +3 PSI rear and the car has plenty of rotation.

I would recommend doing the first session with TC on. Spend the second session playing with the tire pressures. Then for your third session, maybe turn it off. Last session, if needed do pedal dance. I find the car rotates enough for my driving and with the rears with lower tire pressure.

glad yall are talking about the fuel gauge being slow, it caught me off guard last time, all of a sudden looked and was really low, definitely does not respond quickly enough.

Opinions please - help me pick a track for a fall HPDE weekend - which would you pick?

Mid-Ohio
Road Atlanta
Barber Motorsports Park

These are all about the same distance from home, and all have at least a few events this fall with different groups. I've only watched IMSA @ Mid-Ohio, have never been to the others.

VIR is somehow 4 hours further away. No direct route, although I-77 in West Virginia is basically a race track ? I miss driving it..

I have not been to any of the 3 listed but if I was choosing, I would give Barber a try first. It looks more technical and has 2-3 more turns. The distance across the 3 are similar.

Have not been to Mid-Ohio.

Road Atlanta: 5-star lap, 1-star paddock and facilities.
Barber: 4-star lap, 5-star paddock and facilities.

I think Road Atlanta is more enjoyable in the Type R and, if you are a beginner, easier to learn as it has a nicer flow. It is also more iconic than Barber, if that matters.

Hey all,

big fan of this thread- Learning a ton before my first track day at Summit Point main in August.

I went ahead and did the following in preparation:

1. pulled camber pins and did an alignment (able to get -1.9 degrees up front)
2. Endless rf650 fluid
3. Paragon p3 pads and titanium shims upfront only
4. 0w40 oil

besides removing the rain guard from the hood vent, any other tips and tricks? Will be on oem Ps4s

What oil and coolant temps would be considered too high and require me to cool down the car a bit?

Thanks!!!

Its your first time out there, just try to have fun. I know its exciting and you will want to overthink about every possible bit but as a novice the best thing is to just have fun and learn as much as you can from the instructor. PS4s will be totally fine for your first track day, they might get a pit destroyed or maybe not depending on how your drive them since its your first outing. I would just check pressures and try to keep em at around oem pressures as you come off the track or maybe a tad higher so you are not rolling into the sidewalls too much (you will loose grip but will save the tires if you care about that).
August will probably be hot there so good to keep an eye on temps but again depending on how you drive it might be fine, at least me my first track days I took it very easy but I know some people go all out right away. I would start getting worried about oil at about 265ish and at 270 get some cooling laps going
