Hey all,

big fan of this thread- Learning a ton before my first track day at Summit Point main in August.

I went ahead and did the following in preparation:

1. pulled camber pins and did an alignment (able to get -1.9 degrees up front)
2. Endless rf650 fluid
3. Paragon p3 pads and titanium shims upfront only
4. 0w40 oil

besides removing the rain guard from the hood vent, any other tips and tricks? Will be on oem Ps4s

What oil and coolant temps would be considered too high and require me to cool down the car a bit?

Thanks!!!
Ditto with what @MooMoo said, just go out and have fun and absorb as much information as you can. Also, don't forget to stay hydrated!!

Its your first time out there, just try to have fun. I know its exciting and you will want to overthink about every possible bit but as a novice the best thing is to just have fun and learn as much as you can from the instructor. PS4s will be totally fine for your first track day, they might get a pit destroyed or maybe not depending on how your drive them since its your first outing. I would just check pressures and try to keep em at around oem pressures as you come off the track or maybe a tad higher so you are not rolling into the sidewalls too much (you will loose grip but will save the tires if you care about that).
August will probably be hot there so good to keep an eye on temps but again depending on how you drive it might be fine, at least me my first track days I took it very easy but I know some people go all out right away. I would start getting worried about oil at about 265ish and at 270 get some cooling laps going
Thanks for the insight!

last question- I currently have the ITS ADS module installed to smooth out the ride.

Should I swap back to stock for this track day?

Anyone have opinions on which would be better for a smooth track?

Never have used the ITS module on my car I would keep it on regardless of track. 1 for convenience, I would be annoyed to have to do the swap every time I went to a track but 2 because type R module in Type R mode is way too stiff for most tracks, a lot of people (including myself) run the car in comfort mode for suspension 99% of the time so with the ITS module you might actually use it in type R and be good but yeah I would keep it on, like I said, keep it simple, have fun, even if say that track is like glass and the type R module would be beneficial it will be fraction of seconds even with a experienced driver.

Sounds to me like you're all set! I'd encourage a thicker oil in the future, but you should be fine on what you have in there now. It's been a learning process for me and everyone else here on the forum. For future track events I'd look into a decent 5w30 motor oil. I use Motul 300v 5w30 not just at the track, but for street driving as well. I hope you have a blast out there!

I have the ITS module and love it! For my local tracks it's perfect.

Opinions please - help me pick a track for a fall HPDE weekend - which would you pick?

Mid-Ohio
Road Atlanta
Barber Motorsports Park

These are all about the same distance from home, and all have at least a few events this fall with different groups. I've only watched IMSA @ Mid-Ohio, have never been to the others.
I have never driven any of them but Road Atlanta is next up on my list of tracks to make it to. Everybody I've talked to has said the elevation changes are way bigger than any sim makes them out to be. Can't wait to get down there.

Road Atlanta looks like a lot of fun - once I get more experience. Candidly I don't want to spend my weekend freaked out about walls ? I think Road Atlanta and VIR will be my longer trips next year after I get another 4-6 weekends at other friendlier tracks nearby.

Just remember, you're in control of the pace! Don't let the walls scare you!

I just looked at my rear pads they are pretty worn. Going to pull the pad and see how much I lost from a single weekend. I did not do the pedal dance.

Ok not that bad. Not sure what I saw earlier. Moving on guess I'll go back to work.

Yes, my instructor said last event "stop being such a baby with the brakes!" I'm sure I have another event or 2 left on them :D
Start pushing yourself to brake later little by little. Just remember, you aren't "slamming" the brakes. Just think of it in terms of being in a "controlled hurry to slow down".
