I want to upgrade to the Simagic as well! My DD Pro starts to overheat and get rough after 30 minutes of gameplay. Granted it has over 4 years of abuse.

Microcenter is the greatest place on earth LOL. I can't believe that in the era of everything online and Amazon a place like that exists. The best prices too. I don't have one around me, its a 3 hour round trip but I try to go once in a while
It's my go to whenever I want a new mobo-CPU combo. Then I just end up spending way more than I planned lol.

Simagic seems to be the sweet spot right now.

I mainly play Assetto Corsa and Live for Speed. Setup works well for Forza if I want something more arcade-y.
  • Simagic Alpha Mini
  • Simagic GTS wheel
  • Moza HBP handbrake
  • Moza HGP shifter
  • Simagic P1000 pedals
  • Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0

I've been browsing FB marketplace as well for used stuff - people are very proud of their setups and asking WAY too much money for used gear. I'd rather buy brand new if only saving 25% off retail.

lol I looked, people are delirious. And then I have to come a haul a full setup.

NGL though, building the aluminum rig takes a bit, its a full afternoon

I like this thread. One day if I can have the space, this is something I would like to have.

For you guys that actually do track days. What’s missing other than some feedback and adrenaline rush, when doing sim racing?

I don't mind the building. I can throw some Loctite on to make sure nothing loosens up.

I just need my call options to rebound and then maybe I'll buy something ?

the motion of the car and the feel.

My buddy has a crazy setup with motion and everything, but still doesn't make it the same. It's very nice if you're not going to do actual days.
-------
i use sim mostly to work on my vision and looking ahead.

It took me a solid three days of trial and error just to get the ergonomics right before torqueing everything down.

So would you say it qualifies as “seat time”? That’s my problem. Just about every time I am frustrated with my time or with the car, my friends would just say, you just lack seat time. This will continue to be the case, because I can’t do that many track days.

same here. I wish i had the time and funds to go more often, but I would classify it as training for sure: Throttle/brake inputs, steering wheel, apex, etc.

Even in the daily GT7 races, once you don't race against aspiring Sennas, you do get some of the adrenaline rush and work on your racecraft. I do mostly the timed laps, but I'm still slow. It's just good fun for me as I never am on the pointy end...I'm just above average.

It will definitely help you out on a real track, there seems to be a bunch of guys that have gone from sim racing to real racing and they do pretty damn well. Big Bird nails it, you just don't feel the motion of the car, everything you feel is through the wheel but its surprisingly immersive and lets you feel a lot of things (oversteer, understeer, etc...)

VR is even more immersive, its freaking amazing. I wish I could always do VR but VR gets annoying to me after playing for a few races and thats why I switched to screen but nothing like VR, sometimes really feels like you are there
