Here I was, thinking I'm the only person who feels like this should be Original Equipment in the FL5.
Had some runaround involved in getting my DE5 OEM shift knob from DE5RParts.com . Everything worked out great in the end. There's a bit of a story behind it. Haven't installed it yet. Will post in my build thread and here once installed.

Its a set of $90 ebay mats. I got tired of the regular black lasfit mats so I took a chance on these. They aren't great quality but they do have really good coverage in the front and in the back rows. Material feels very cheap though and I'll probably only get 1 or 2 years use out of them before they start to fall apart.

They're good but the drivers floor mat isn't measured right and if you floor it, the pedal gets caught on the mat when you let off, and gets stuck in the 50% throttle position which is not fun. The company has horrible customer service and even though they say 100% satisfaction guarantee they will not help in any way. I've thought about cutting the drivers floor mat to fix the issue but I just use them in the passenger areas in the winter.

I'm surprised you're still running these mats. That sounds awful and like a lawsuit (and bodily injury and property damage) waiting to happen. Good on your for not being an apologist and for not recommending.

I’ve heard the DE5 shift knob changes how shifting feels. Is it more satisfying and a better overall experience? Or does it feel the same just with leather?

After driving several hundred miles with the DE5 knob, yes, to me it does feel different than the OEM FL5 shift knob.
The FL5 shift knob is a bit taller, and has more mass and weight overall.
With the DE5 knob, I feel that weight missing, if that makes sense.
I now understand the concept of a "heavy" shift knob. Never thought that would be a thing, but it is.
Even though it is a small difference, it's there with the stock FL5 shift knob, and not there, now that it has been removed.

I like it and have it installed on mine. I also own the OEM one and the red leather OEM upgrade one but the Type S one just feels better
