Finally got my CRV Hybrid home. Declined all of the warranties offered since the factory warranty expired the second I touched the door handle. Got some Gap insurance though for all the feelings this thing is gonna hurt passing Coyote swapped Fox Body's.

I can't believe you bought that. For just a few dollars more, you could have gotten yourself a mint condition NSX!
Dude they had a mint condition NSX right next to the CRV Hybrid for only a few dollars more, but I loaned the Loch Ness monster $3.50 right before I got to the dealership!

 Hopefully when you go back to the track, there isn't going to be many coyote swapped fox bodies out there!

Dude, I'm worried too! That's why I bought the gap insurance!

Serious talk, glad you got another car and getting right back out there. I was a track addict for a long time (with motorcycles) and the mental block after a crash is hard to explain, but very satisfying to overcome. Wishing you the best track seasons yet!

I'm a bit worried. I've had a few nights since the incident where I see the ditch coming at me in slow motion, and where I was reaching with my right arm to find something to help brace with. In dreams. Some people thought I was reaching for the shifter or an emergency brake (I wasn't). I wake up instantly, and it takes a second to realize that I'm safe. In my waking hours I'm completely fine and at peace with it. It's not my first car accident, and it may not be my last (first time on a race track, and first time in a roll scenario). I walked away in one piece with some colorful bruises and a trashed car. I've been told by some friends that PTSD can go unrecognized and buried deep. My fear is that I lock up, get a panic attack, and Ricky Bobby in the middle of the track. I sincerely hope that my subconscious doesn't come back to bite me while I'm at speed. I need to be focused, relaxed, hydrated, and without fatigue.

I visited with my Dad today, and learned that my step mother has forbidden him from riding with me ever again. He's selling his helmet.

Despite my want to recover completely from this, I've stained my reputation with posting my video in hopes that it helps others, and brings education and preparedness to people of any skill level.

At the end of the day, I hope my failure saves the angst I've endured from happening to someone else.

That's about as real as I can get...

I dont think your reputation was stained at all. This can happen to anyone, newbies and experienced and hope we all learn from the experience. Glad you got another one and will keep at it, everyone with a CTR, hell, anyone that likes cars and has anything should go to a track day at least once but more than once really, its an experience that is unlike anything else.

Sorry to hear about the choice your dad has made. As a father myself, no way I’m letting anyone tell me I can’t be a passenger in my son’s car - on a track or road. It simply isn’t happening. And as far as it straining your reputation, bollocks - this is the exact type of thing the car community needs. People being forthright and honest so others can learn. I give you tons of respect for that, as it is never easy to put yourself out there like this.

I'm bummed out by it, but I understand his decision, and my Step Mom will always win. He's almost 72 years old, and while in good health, may not have survived that crash had he been in the passenger seat. He'll still come out to track events to watch and support, and even offered to buy a simpson hybrid for me.

My Mom asked me several weeks ago if I'd go back out on track, and I told her that I absolutely would, and would use this experience to become an even better driver....She hasn't spoken to me since...

My Mom's mom (my grandmother) was a police officer, sport fisherman, and dirt track race car driver. Though she died when I was young, it's kind of neat to think that some of that stubborn fury was passed down to me.

Give them time, they are just concerned for you and might not understand why you want to keep doing it.

Agree with the above, give em time, it will get better with time doing more track days and have nothing happen to you. Tracking a car is pretty safe in the grand scheme of things, I know a lot of people will not understand that but I feel safer out on track than driving down the highway.

Also absolutely should get a simpson hybrid. I know its much more fun to get other mods like suspension and aero and what not and the simpson hybrid is hella expensive at $1200 but imo its a must and after brake fluid and pads should be on everyone that does a few track days a year buy list.

Yup, just give them time. They will understand that you are doing something you enjoy.

I remember when I first got into AutoX back in College, both my parents were not happy but they didn’t know what it really was. This was more than 20 years ago. 3 years ago I brought both of them to WTGI with my wife and son. They finally saw what it was and realized it’s not wheel to wheel racing. They know that there’s still some danger involved but at least it took out a lot of their imagination. Anyway, parents will be parents.
