Update. it's been unusually hot and my replaced trim piece did not solve the tick issue. The tick is back, and I still can't figure out where it's coming from.
Get one while they are able to be found easily!
I had Ohlins coilovers installed, and changed the brakes to Stop Tech rotors and sport pads. What an amazing car!
Hard to say, I've only personally owned my AP1 (2002) and now the AP2 (2007 with traction control and drive by wire) Both drive similar, but the slight differences are there. I think I liked the quicker steering rack on the AP1 car, but I like the suspension a lot more on the AP2. TC I have yet...
Drove the new to me S2000 about 150 miles today, half of that in the twisty mountain roads, i'll say the AP2 with 17" handles quite a bit better than my AP1 with 16" wheels. I also know Honda made some tweaks in suspension through the years too.
Half way through my drive in the twisties, I was...
your post really hits home for me. I sold my first S2000 after just short ownership because I had the FL5 at the same time and I just didn't think I would drive the S2000 much after getting the FL5. As soon as I sold the S2000, I just really missed it. The S2000 has such amazing driving dynamics...
Thanks all!
The AP2 I got is a 2007 so has TC and drive by wire. Compared to the AP1 I had the car overall is a tiny bit softer to drive, but also friendlier for dd. I do miss the 9k redline even though I didn't hit it often.
S2000 #2
after driving my AP1 for many miles, I decided the color combo wasn't what I wanted and I reluctantly sold the AP1. Today, I bought a super clean silverstone AP2 with only 32k miles!
a lot of us have been down that path. When I was 23, (2nd job out of school) I had around 40K (from stocks) burning a hole in my pocket - I bought a new 2001 M3 which was marked up to 65K. Everyone including my boss and parents suggested I take that money and buy a condo instead, but I didn't...
I had a G80 M3 6MT at the same time as my FL5. The M3 is of course much faster, much more refined and had great driving dynamics when going full tilt in the twisties. But for everyday use, it got a little dull and after getting out of the S2000 and FL5, the shifter feel and long throws felt...
Thanks! To me the dd is whatever car I happen to drive the most since I work from home. I just find myself driving the 911 more than the other cars... Previously it was the S2000. I managed to put 2K miles in 2 months without any commute!
IMO at the end of the day, what makes the Type R so popular with car enthusiasts is that it actually is a great drivers car.. the engagement points, the fun, communicative, and nimble chassis - it's all there and appeases my need for a great drivers's car.
Well, I had some issues with my G80 M3 (AC condenser failed) and the repairs would have been pretty invasive even though the car is only 1 year old and under warranty. I asked the dealer if they were interested in buying the car back and they gave me an offer which was just a few thousand under...
I actually got the FL5 to replace my other daily (2015 S3 8V) it's a quick little car, but oversteers bad, and I had issues with the haldex AWD. It's a pretty primitive AWD system. I really wanted a Golf R 6MT, but I think the DSG gearbox is really good too.
I got no such card on my US delivered FL5. I don't think it is. needed. I have unplugged my battery (to swap steering wheels) and no code was asked when I re-plugged in the battery.
OK i'll bite, since your tone is more reasonable this time. None of what you said really applies to me, because I am not getting defensive about the cars I own. I like all makes/models if they speak to me. There is no perfect car for everyone.
That said, you could say that i'm not the biggest...
