Well, I had some issues with my G80 M3 (AC condenser failed) and the repairs would have been pretty invasive even though the car is only 1 year old and under warranty. I asked the dealer if they were interested in buying the car back and they gave me an offer which was just a few thousand under what I paid, so I decided to sell the car back to them and look for a car i've been eyeing for years.

991.2 C2! -- this will be my dd and the FL5 will be my 'fun' car. They compliment each other well!

Congrats on the new P-car. Interesting that the 911 is the daily! I daily my FL5 and am looking for a 911 to use as my weekend car.

Thanks! To me the dd is whatever car I happen to drive the most since I work from home. I just find myself driving the 911 more than the other cars... Previously it was the S2000. I managed to put 2K miles in 2 months without any commute!

after driving my AP1 for many miles, I decided the color combo wasn't what I wanted and I reluctantly sold the AP1. Today, I bought a super clean silverstone AP2 with only 32k miles!

I like silver over the Suzuka blue, even if it’s more rare. And that it’s lower mile. Having an AP2 myself, I do wish the 2.2 revs to 9k though. Otherwise, enjoy the new S2000. It should drive differently than the AP1.

Congrats! Having myself an AP2 (same color!), I recommend replacing the slave cylinder with an AP1, or remove the delay valve in the AP2 slave cylinder.

Did you get a 2004 with the cable throttle instead of drive by wire throttle? Also, 2004 doesn't have any traction control (I think 2005 is the same in regards with the traction control).

The AP2 I got is a 2007 so has TC and drive by wire. Compared to the AP1 I had the car overall is a tiny bit softer to drive, but also friendlier for dd. I do miss the 9k redline even though I didn't hit it often.

So true--I've taken my FL5 apart throughout the inside... halfway afraid to look at the Del Sol wrong. lol

So I finally found Type R at a price I am willing to pay. I had intended to sell my S2000 because I hardly drive it, and I figured the Type R would mostly satisfy my need for a nice handing car with a great shifter. Oddly, even though Type R is everything I expected (and then some), it has given me new appreciation for the S2000 such that I plan to hold on to it. I am actually driving the S2000 even more now than before I got my Type R (and I really, really like the R). For me, it comes down to being able to rotate the car in corners using the throttle, using a shifter that's crazy solid, and with the top down. It's so strange to me that I will be keeping both cars now, when I had zero intention to do that.

your post really hits home for me. I sold my first S2000 after just short ownership because I had the FL5 at the same time and I just didn't think I would drive the S2000 much after getting the FL5. As soon as I sold the S2000, I just really missed it. The S2000 has such amazing driving dynamics with all the points you mentioned.

How do you rate the S2000 shifter against the Type R? When I drove the S2000, it was the best shifter going but that was a long time ago.

Drove the new to me S2000 about 150 miles today, half of that in the twisty mountain roads, i'll say the AP2 with 17" handles quite a bit better than my AP1 with 16" wheels. I also know Honda made some tweaks in suspension through the years too.

Half way through my drive in the twisties, I was followed by another S2000--same color! Was fun romping through the hills!

I know no one asked me directly, but the shifter on the S2000 is the best out of any car i've ever driven. It is much better than the FL5 shifter which is already really good. The S2000 feels much more mechanical and has a direct click through the gears. The FL5 you can still feel it's a cable shifter whereas the S2000 shifter feels like its directly bolted onto the transmission.
