I really want to disconnect the cringe fake noise, but have learned the hard way how easily the dash is permanently dented/marked so I’m very weary about pulling the center section. If there’s a way to do it without prying on the center section I’d love to know how.

I’d hang onto the S2K. Japanese performance cars from that era are getting very hard to find and command big bucks. It’ll only get harder to replace them. You’ve got plenty of time to acquire an FL5.
