As you can imagine, I got caught up in the moment and long story short I got me a 2023 FL5. The main surprise when it showed up was a hole in the trans case (looks like the CV axle hit it)

The firewall / wheel well got damaged as well. Other than suspension parts and a transmission, body wise all it needs is the driver fender and some work on the driver door. The front bumper got a small bit of damage but not enough to replace it.

My goal is to have it registered and back on the road by the end of April.

Ps nice to meet you all!

I look forward to seeing your progress. Are you planning to do anything in particular with it. I think if I bought a wrecked FL5 I’d make it a track monster. I mean…while I have things taken apart, I may as well make some enhancements. ?

Nice find. Interesting they totaled it with so little damage. Unless they total vehicles from firewall damage. I'm impressed how localized the damage is. I guess it hit a curb.

Plan is just to daily drive it and enjoy canyon drives. Weather is decent today so I'm going to try and get the suspension together and get it off the trailer. I think most insurance companies won't touch firewall damage. I get that if the frame horn pushed into the firewall or something like that, but in this case the wheel hit it and it looked very savable. Time will tell but I'm sure it will come together fine. The PO said someone hit into them and they ran off the road into a corn field. Funny enough they took off their intake and exhaust when it went to auction so I'm trying to buy those. She is looking for the second key as well to send me so that would be cool. I'll share the progress later today with you all.

I had a fairly productive couple of hours this afternoon. I was able to JB weld the hole in the trans, install the new knuckle and axle, and use an old damaged wheel I had from my FK8 to get this thing sitting back on all four. Also started it up and moved it about a foot on the trailer. The caliper got pretty scraped up, and the shock got a little damage but I'll leave that for now. Upper strut mount is all clean and straight. Not sure if the LCA is bent yet, looks ok but it may be. Hopefully the JB weld holds up enough to drive the car around the neighborhood and move it around while I work on everything.

Not really interested in AWD swap. Id kswap a Subaru before I ever AWD swap a Honda. Hopefully I can get it off the trailer and drive it up the street this week!

I was able to drive the car around the block! Not that this was a good test drive, but it was still exciting. Funny I had never even sat in an FL5 before buying this one.

Anyway, JB weld held up to the short drive, I shifted through 1-3 gears. Obviously alignment is way off still. Once on the ground I could tell pretty obviously that the left front wheel was sitting further back in the wheel well. Initial measurements comparing pass side indicate LCA so that has been ordered.

Also re set the bead on one rear tire, couldn't get the front on so I had to put another damaged FK8 wheel on the pass front. Hoarding pays off sometimes ha. Slow and steady I guess. All one step closer to registration and daily driving!

Lows 20s. I'm guessing repairs will be around 10k or so.
Not bad at all really. Someone could fix this and still have a decent FL5 for under $35k. Whats the odometer reading? Extremely lucky with no airbag deployments as those get costly especially with the dash and sending off the SRS module for a reset.
