just after 25,000 miles my fl5 started to make an odd sound specifically when shifting from first to second. I am not sure what is causing it. I took it to my Honda dealership and they said they couldn’t replicate the sound(as usual), and that they checked the transmission and there is nothing wrong with it. I am now starting to notice some other slightly higher pitched sounds at low rpms, almost like whistling. Could my turbo be going out? I am fbo with a phearable stage 2 tune. Where is this sound coming from? Turbo? Transmission?

Are you referring to that “pew” noise just as the shifter starts into second gear? I have the same noise under the same condition. I doubt it’s anything to worry about, though I don’t know for sure. Probably the second gear syncro doing its thing.
just make believe that every time you hear it, you’re shooting down an alien spacecraft with your laser gun!

Are you also fbo? I just don’t want to have my turbo blow or something. When did your car start making that noise? How would I go diagnosing this sound?

And yes I am referring to the pew sound close to the end of the video clip.

I have DE5, and also have the same pew sound when shifting from 1–>2nd only. I asked in Integra forums, but didn’t get ideas from members. It started around 14k miles. I don’t have crazy mods, most bolt ons. I have a tune - I can try to flash original map but I think it’s not related to the tune.

I plan to visit my dealer, but will probably end up with the same result “we couldn’t reproduce it.” Hope someone here can help.

I have a downpipe and intake plus a tune that’s probably very similar to yours.
I actually hadn’t noticed the sound until I listened for it this morning. I’m pretty sure it’s transmission related. Short of having an expert transmission repair person hear it, I doubt a regular tech at Honda is going to be able to tell you much.
Again, I don’t think I’d worry about it unless it gets worse.

I have the same sound as well with a whine between 2/3K rpm. It’s normal I’m FBO on E50 running the RV6 AS turbo.

Sounds like a gear spinning another gear but was faced with a hair of resistance for a second? My type s doesn’t do that. But I only have like 2600 miles

It’s faint but for that brief moment when U can hear it. It reminds me of the straight cut gear sound. Almost.
