Does anyone else experience a loud “popping” loud thud sort of noise when dumping the clutch in first? Might be normal and I’m just stressing but it sounds very loud and irregular. Sometimes happens only once, but sometimes it makes this noise multiple times in succession and it sounds pretty terrible. My friend is saying it’s probably wheel hop, as it mainly happens when the pavement is not smooth and only happens when I dump it really fast (say trying to get the wheels spinning). Maybe a rubber mount popping and flexing or something? Stiffer rear engine mount will fix this possibly? Thanks all.

A rear motor mount with urethane bushings will help with the wheel hop. That being said, this is not the car for dumping the clutch and that kind of abuse. If drag racing is your cup of tea, you might consider a different platform.

That was the sound of my heart after reading your post.
