Alright. Y’all are missing the BIGGEST issue here. Op is asking about “break” fluid. DO NOT confuse this with “brake” fluid. True story : A friend took his car to Firestone once. This was 30 years ago. We were in college. They used break fluid and he ended up in the ditch!

OK, actually I don’t know what they used. But he was on the highway and found he had no brakes. He had to drive his car into the ditch to stop! He got a new car out of it, but his folks decided not to sue since no one was injured or anything. Crazy.
I love U bro but your joke was kinda dry

Oh give me a “brake.” Dry humor is the best humor. Except fart humor. That’s pretty great too.

FWIW - Honda cautions against using DOT 5
"Brake fluid marked DOT 5 is not compatible with your vehicle's braking system and can cause extensive damage."
May or may not have to deal with sharing a common reservoir with the clutch system
FWIW, DOT 5 is not DOT 5.1.

DOT 5 is not recommended for any brake system that wasn't originally equipped with it, because it's a completely different chemistry from DOT 3/4/5.1

DOT 5.1 was created to give DOT 5 performance in a chemistry compatible with DOT 3/4.

DOT 5.1 should have been called DOT 6, but here we are.

DOT 5 is NOT compatible with any other DOT. It does not have to do with the common reservoir. it has to do with the chemistry of DOT 5

however, DOT 5.1 is compatible with DOT 3 and DOT 4

DOT 3, DOT 4, and DOT 5.1 are all glycol-ether based fluids

DOT 5 is silicone-based, typically containing at least 70 percent diorgano polysiloxane by weight.

This makes DOT 5 hydrophobic, meaning it repels water and does not absorb moisture like glycol fluids do.

In contrast, glycol-based fluids are hygroscopic and designed to integrate water into the mixture to maintain performance.

Anyone know if upgrading brake fluid will change clutch feel?

Reason I ask is because in my DSG MK7 GTI I switched to Endless RF-650 and it gave me an AMAZING brake pedal feel lol. i could tell a difference between fresh OEM fluid, Motul RB600, and the Endless stuff.

I have never put upgraded fluid in a manual car before and was curious.

If ya'll are upgrading fluid - look into Endless RF-650. I believe the Mercedes F1 team uses it and Porsche factory race cars as well.

If it’s good fluid it’ll feel slightly firmer and super consistent. Even when fluid is warmer or colder.

It 100% does. Compressibility of the fluid is as much of a problem for the clutch as it is the brakes.

However, you're wasting your time changing fluid if you haven't deleted your CDV and CMC damper. Those things are wreaking havoc with the feel of the clutch.

Yeah I am almost at 2 years on the OEM fluid. I will also try that. This clutch can feel so vague at times, would love to make it feel more consistent.

CDV delete, CMC damper delete, and deleting the clutch pedal assist spring (there's a return spring built into the master, so the pedal still returns fully without the wonky assist spring) made it feel like a completely different clutch.

The factory clutch setup, quite frankly, is wack and vague.
