Hello,
I’ve decided to change the wheels on my FL5. The reason is that there’s no nearby shop that knows how to replace the tires. I’ll be investing in some new wheels instead.
I won’t be able to do it today because I measured the tires and they’re 8/32 all around after 26,000 miles. I don’t carve canyons, so I mainly use the car to take my kids to and from school. I live in Texas, and there aren’t any tracks nearby. The closest one is COTA, but the prices for track days are astronomical.
I was looking at Evasive Motorsports and they have a few options. There’s the Gram Light 57DR 19x9.5+45 gunmetal blue, the Te 37 19x9.5+45 on matte translucent black and matte black, and one of them says “face2.” I don’t understand what that means.
I’ll stick to 19-inch wheels with 265/30/19 Michelin tires. On 18-inch wheels, I’d probably have more tire choices, but I don’t like the look of them. They’ll also be lower, probably on H&R, which is the one that lowers the car the most, but not too much. The other option is the Fortune Auto 1k coil sleeve, which would lower the car 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. I don’t think it’s worth the premium for me.
Will I have rubbing issues on the stock ride height? Or will I have rubbing issues with the .75F/.60R tires from H&R while running +45 on the car?
