In many cases a higher quality product can be bought from China. China is actively working to shed its "cheap" product image because they're trying to become the industrial and engineering hub of the world.
Yeah. China makes a lot of good products now. No doubt. The problem is that they’re (still) the cheap knock-off hub of the world too. As long as they continue to allow this, they will always be viewed with skepticism. I guess the way they see it is that ALL business is good business. If they don’t do it, then someone else will.

As mentioned its a thing now with BMW, there is some dude on instagram that posts stuff that are sold by US shops that are alibaba rebrands. Exhausts and wheels. Everyone knows that tons of the stuff we buy are just rebranded stuff. Also lets not forget that just because its made in the USA does not mean its a good product or that it does not have issues (looking at a usa made exhaust brand here).

However its all about the customer service for me, if there is an issue I want the company to be behind it, I don't want to deal with an unknown seller on Alibaba. Not to mention sending an exhaust back to china, that sounds like a logistic nightmare.

I was just talking to someone about this yesterday, they mentioned ordering some apex wheels from alibaba (well from the factory that makes apex wheels). I have been buying apex wheels for a few years now and their customer service has been excellent and to me I am happy to pay extra for that. They also give you 50% off if you damage your wheels. I will happily support a US company if they stand behind the product and do a bit more quality control before shipping the product to me.

That said some companies don't have good CS and are just sending rebranded crap, so yeah stay away from those.

I bet a lot of these alibaba exhausts are totally fine

The problem with China is the various factories copy cat each other (not just western factories). Some Chinese firms produce decent quality, but others only look the same from afar. I saw this first hand when living there.

Definitely curious...Exhaust is a non critical component as was said. At the end of the day its how much work do you want to do?.

I personally might take the risk knowing I have a band saw, TIG welder etc to fix any issues. I got a full china exhaust on my Integra and just cut off the resonators that came with it and replaced with Vibrant and still spent less then a full exhaust and got the exact tone I wanted.

Yeah this was exactly what I was thinking. I'm currently talking with a few suppliers on Alibaba to see if they have sound clips of their exhausts

I have a alibaba exhaust on my other car. Been happy with it. The only thing annoying it didn’t come with tips so I had to source that.
