2026 FL5 Speculation Thread

The comment was deleted, but on this Reddit thread in R/Civic_Type_R, someone claiming to be the head of marketing for the Type R (or something) said that there will be an announcement regarding the North American Type R in November and that they were "going out with a bang." Also, went to Airventure Oshkosh last month and spoke to the Honda reps there. The woman I spoke to wouldn't confirm or deny a 2026 Type R or a next generation, but told me that it's the best-selling hot hatch in the States, and alluded to the Type R name continuing in some way.

That entire thread is speculative nonsense. Even the dumb comment about someone neither confirming nor denying there will be a 2026 model. Idiots eat up and believe anything smh…

I find any leaks to be EXTREMELY unlikely. Honda is famously good at keeping secrets. The only hints they ever drop are hints that are very specifically- strategically planned and are released with a lot of fanfare.

Anyone claiming to be in Honda marketing saying "something is coming" on a random Reddit thread is either making it up, or is already fired and likely being sued into oblivion.

Yessir l, I’ll PM you some photos. Got to see a simulated Dogfight between two P51s and a ME262. I also got to do an in-formation ride along with the Titan aerobatic team doing aerobatics.

I have to attend that show someday. I’m not really an aviation enthusiast, but I am fascinated with anything WW2. But it’s the sound of those Rolls Royce engines that does me in. I got to see a Mustang and Spitfire fly together years ago, and I literally teared up. Lol.

Same here. I travel with an airshow company doing all their photo and video, so I get to see a bunch of cool stuff. I'm not super into planes, but I'm a history buff, so seeing all the WW2 stuff makes me super happy, especially the Mustangs and Corsairs. That is a great video!! That sounds like a fun gig. I may have to pay the $2500 or whatever it costs to take a ride in a P51 someday.

I talked to the CEO of Honda and he told me to not tell anyone but I'm going to anyway. If it wasn't for the tariffs we'd be getting the 26 fl5 but because of this administration actions unfortunately it's not gonna happen sorry guys. Haters will say it's not true, but it's true.

Interestingly, if you go on the Honda USA build website and look at Civic trim builds, every trim has a MY26 except for the Type R. The FL5 is the only Civic hatchback listed at MY25.

Yep. Sure seems like it's done. It's still not added back to the Canada website either.

We should probably stop speculating though. It's filling up this thread with nonsense.

Regular Civic sedan and hatchback are made in north America. That means those factories have switched to MY26. Only Type R is made in Japan. It's awaiting its own announcement on what's next.
