No, this only happens when it is confirmed. Like I've been telling everyone the only thing changing is the MSRP. The FL5 was always planned for a 5 year cycle

While I tend to agree with you, I do think its still very strange no announcement has been made regarding the MSRP. I can't think of any logical reason to leave it unsaid for so long, the other Civics following the same process (MY and MSRP change only) have been on the ground for months and announced a long time ago. Why not swap the model year over on the big batch that landed a month ago and sell them at the higher MSRP as 2026s?

It's going to go up by either $500 or $1000 as has been the trend over the years. Thank the tarriff negotiations for the majority of the delays, Japan and the USA have had ongoing negotiations which lead to things being finalized then changed or updated on short notice, which requires either renegotiation or reconfirmation. The Uncertainty of it all is what's messing with the general timeline of 2026 MY delivery.

Remember 2023 FL5s didn't actually hit dealerships til the end of November, so the 2026 MY arriving this late isn't abnormal. Honda is also still fulfilling their obligations for 2025 MY with specific regions and dealerships. Jamaica for instance just got a few 2025 FL5s and they still have a final batch of 2 more schedule before they get the 2026 MY.

No mid-cycle updates planned, if there was one planned it wouldve gotten it already to keep in line with the other civic models

No they all got the mid model treatment in 2020-2021, then the type R went on hiatus for one year and came back in 2023 as the 11th gen with true J VINs

All 10th gen civic models got the facelift the same year which was 2020.

I'll believe it when we see one on the ground. In my experience, salesman are the most clueless, their managers are only slightly less dumb, and I've even seen regional reps and corporate weenies who knew less about new/coming models than the average car enthusiast.

In the case of the Civic, there is probably a little more confusion than usual since other trim levels of the Civic made the leap to the 2026 model year back in August. In fact when I bought my 2025 Type R at the end of August, there were already a bunch of standard model 2026 Civics on the lot.

I can't remember which forum it was on, but there was a recent discussion about people in the car business and very few of them are actually car enthusiasts or savvy enough to understand info/rumors like we can dissect here. There was also a recent interview with Bob Lutz who said he was always shocked how most people working at the corporate level in the big auto companies were not car enthusiasts in the least -- they may as well be selling appliances.

5 year cycle as in 2022 - 2027? Or 5 year model cycle?

Because I got my CTR in 2022 and its a 2023MY.

5 Model years, as in 2023-2027, yes you got your car in 2022 but it's a 2023MY

I talked to my dealer today as were looking at getting a Prelude for my wife and he said that he hasn't heard any news about the 26MY CTR and doesn't expect that there would be one as they really want to showcase the Prelude as their sporty Honda model for next year.

Interesting take, time will tell.
