What imperfection you see in the FL5?

Don't like that there's no place for coins and stuff. Don't like that there isn't at least one pocket in the back seat area for the passengers. Like others... don't like that there isn't any USB connector in the back (altho an extra-long cable is feasible...yet obnoxious). it's a hatchback... i use it for utiilty and everyday driving... so would really like to put my stuff somewhere... and that center console is hard to reach.

Most impressions are positive about things i didn't expect but really like -- such as the ambient lighting in the cabin and all of the sensors and settings that i didn't think would be included in just a hatch sports car.

i have had a buzzing in my dash from the center around 4-5k rpm...it's not horrible, but i can't really think of anything that has really stood out yet as being an imperfection, i'm sure something will

My car also, when the rpm's reach 4000, there is also a vibration in the engine compartment and the vibration reaches the steering wheel. It's as if it's telling you that you should throttle up to reach higher rpm's, a very hot feeling, although I don't know if it's normal.

FL5 owner: I bid one seat recall, a divisive exterior, more weight, a larger turning circle, an occasional buzz or rattle, and huge ADM.
FK8 owner: I call your ADM and divisive exterior, and raise you heat soak, no custom modes, and no built in data logger.
FL5: I bid less color choices, a less integrated screen, and fake engine noise.
FK8: I see you and raise you less power, less chassis stiffness, no volume knob, skinnier tires, larger panel gaps, and slower lap times.
Me: Shut up, you're both awesome.

I'll preface my comments with this: The FL5 is a fantastic car. There's a lot of goodness in what is offered at the current price point and relative to other vehicles in and out of its peer group. You cannot manufacture a near perfect car to sell at ~$45K. It's not possible. Here are a few reasonable items of note:

• Rev Match on/off should be a button and not buried in the infotainment menus. There's a blank space below the Drive Mode toggle, use it.
• No rear seat connectivity
• No microsuede rear seats like the versions offered outside of North America.
• Wireless Charging pad is not future proof. It won't be long before most new mobile phone offerings will be unable to fit.
• No Brembo brakes on the rear rotors
• A faster processor for the infotainment system. There's noticeable processor latency.
• In keeping with the track focused nature of this car a HUD would've been accretive. Imagine having the ability to see certain data points from LogR in a HUD display like boost, oil temp, water temp, IAT, EGT, lap timer, etc.
• An exhaust system that better matches the performance of the car.

Not sure. I know at least one member has an FL1. I believe it's @mbaapk , not sure though.

It might be the perfect car at 45k, I don’t think it’s the perfect car at 55k-60k.

When cargo and passenger space are part of the definition of "perfect" it's pretty much the only option outside of a full SUV -- and then our options are again limited if you want performance with a manual xmission.

In my case, as a skier, camper, and project-oriented person, i had just come from an old Honda CRV -- which was far from luxury, yet still had tons of storage pockets (including sunglass pocket). So, i was expecting at least a couple of them, and so was disappointed.

Would i change the FL5 just because it doesn't have some storage pockets? NOPEY. Are the lack of some decent storage pockets (or hooks at least) a frustration? Definitely. But, it's a small irritant that i totally forget as soon as i have my sunglasses on and start driving the car.

FL1 has rear USB. Just got back from car camping w my Luno! What a versatile car.

Oh…I didn’t realize the car didn’t have HUD. I’m going to struggle with this one for sure…ugh!

On another note, more noticeable on my CBP than other colors, the clear coat on this car is subpar. During paint correction, white specs (like dust) started popping up all over. I was a bit disappointed, but I guess I have no choice but to live with it. I’m finally picking the car up tomorrow. Been over a week since I signed papers, but will be the first time I actually bring the car home.

I understand where you're coming from. Once I first experienced HUD I thought I could never go back. I've had it on five cars and really enjoyed it. It turns out it's really a nice to have and I haven't missed it all that much. It won't change your driving experience IMHO. Would be interested to hear your thoughts after you get some seat time.

I hear about the paint quality often. I haven't had any issues with the CW paint. It prepped well prior to ceramic coating and I haven't experienced anything odd. A good portion of the car has PPF and I'm uber meticulous with car care so I expect it to hold up well over time.

If the center armrest tub is the same part (or is similar), maybe the FL1 USB ports/harness can also be fitted to the CTR (assuming it's a small add-on harness - if not, maybe can look in junkyards for wrecked FL1s to harvest).
